Publication number: 20200347693Abstract: The present invention provides an actuation member for traveling down a borehole of a casing to engage with one or more geometrical profile locations provided inside the casing, and a system for controllably exposing selected locations along the wellbore to a pressurized fluid. The actuation member comprises a generally cylindrical hollow body extending between an uphole end and a downhole end, and a plug seat configured to receive a plug for blocking the borehole. The actuation member has two edge portions separate and movable relative to one another to facilitate resilient deformation of the hollow body, wherein the deformation causes a reduction of cross-sectional area of the hollow body. An outer surface of the hollow body comprises one or more protrusions and/or grooves configured to matingly engage with the one or more geometric profile locations in the casing.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2020Publication date: November 5, 2020Applicant: 2054351 Alberta Ltd.Inventors: Blake WOOD, Nigel DABREO

Publication number: 20200056467Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-stage hydraulic fracturing tool and system for controllably exposing selected locations along a wellbore to a pressurized fluid. The system includes a casing having one or more ports, one or more actuation members which travel down a borehole, and one or more sliding sleeves which initially cover some of the ports and are movable using a mating actuation member to uncover those ports. The system further includes a stop mechanism to contact the sliding sleeve member after the sliding sleeve member has moved a first distance downhole under a first predefined amount of force, and a release mechanism to cause the actuation member to disengage from the sliding sleeve member release under a second predetermined amount of force.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2019Publication date: February 20, 2020Applicant: 2054351 Alberta Ltd.Inventors: Blake WOOD, Nigel DABREO

Patent number: 10364648Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-stage hydraulic fracturing tool and system for controllably exposing selected locations along a wellbore to a pressurized fluid. The system comprises an elongated casing (for disposal within the wellbore) defining an internal borehole extending longitudinally, and having one or more ports; an actuation member configured for travelling down the borehole and includes a wedged portion and a groove having a first length in the longitudinal direction, formed at least partially circumferentially around an outer surface of the actuation member, a sliding sleeve member having an aperture for receiving the actuation member, and one or more inward-facing protrusions having a length less than or equal to the first length, connected to the sliding sleeve member and at least initially protruding radially into the aperture.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2018Date of Patent: July 30, 2019Assignee: 2054351 ALBERTA LTDInventor: Blake Wood
