    Abstract: An application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is disclosed. The ASIC comprises an internal circuit coupled between a power line and ground and an output buffer coupled to the internal circuit; wherein the output buffer provides an output signal. The ASIC includes a fault detection circuit coupled between the power line and ground; and a first protection block configured to receive a first control signal from the fault detection circuit. The first switch is coupled to the power line, the output buffer and the internal circuit. The first protection block prevents current from flowing between the power line and ground when a fault condition is detected. The ASIC further includes a second protection block configured to receive a second control signal from the fault detection circuit, wherein the second protection block is coupled to the output signal, the power line and ground.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for transmitting a message in a Hierarchical Layer 2 Virtual Private Network (H-L2VPN). A destination MAC address, to which a message is to be forwarded upon receiving the message, is determined by a first peer node of the network. The first peer node determines whether one or more equivalent pseudo wires (PWs) connected thereto form a path to the destination MAC address. When it is determined that more than one equivalent PW forms a path to the destination MAC address, an arbitrary equivalent PW is selected from the more than one equivalent PW by the first peer node. The first peer node sends the message, via the selected equivalent PW, to a second peer node of the network connected to the selected equivalent PW for forwarding to the destination MAC address.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes rapid convergence of an Access Network (AN). A VLAN forwarder is allocated to a first Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) and traffic for the first VLAN is forwarded to and from the AN via the VLAN forwarder. When detecting that the VLAN forwarder satisfies a VLAN reallocation condition, the VLAN forwarder blocks traffic of the first VLAN to and from the AN via the VLAN forwarder, and calculates a characteristic value of the VLAN forwarder. A packet carrying the characteristic value of the VLAN forwarder is transmitted to each neighbor VLAN forwarder such that VLAN reallocation is performed by a VLAN allocator if the characteristic value of the VLAN forwarder is the same as that of each neighbor VLAN forwarder. After receiving information that the VLAN forwarder is reallocated to a second VLAN, the VLAN forwarder allows the traffic of the second VLAN to and from the AN via the VLAN forwarder.
