    Abstract: Disclosed herein are aqueous dental coating compositions and methods for enhancing contrast of intraoral surfaces for 3-dimensional digital scanning. The compositions include: an aqueous solvent system; a water soluble polymer present at no greater than 5 wt. %, based on the total weight of the aqueous dental coating composition; a plurality of first particles having a first index of refraction, and a plurality of second particles having a second index of refraction different than the first index of refraction, wherein the first particles and the second particles are substantially non-absorptive in the visible range, and wherein the aqueous dental coating composition is a dispersion or a dispersion of the first particles and second particles in the aqueous solvent system can be formed by shaking the composition for 30 seconds.

    Abstract: A method of shape sorting abrasive particles involves disposing initial crushed abrasive particles with agitation against the surface of a tool, the surface defining a plurality of shaped cavities having an average aspect ratio of at least 1.2, thereby causing a first portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles to become retained within at least some of the shaped cavities, and causing a second portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles to remain as loose particles on the surface. Substantially all of the shaped cavities contain at most one abrasive particle. The second portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles is separated from the tool. The first portion of the initial crushed abrasive particles is then separated from the tool and isolated as loose sorted crushed abrasive particles. The average aspect ratio of the loose sorted crushed abrasive particles is greater than that of the initial crushed abrasive particles.

Upon cleavage of at least a portion of the polymerized monomeric units derived from the cleavable crosslinking monomer, the composition exhibits a change in at least one physical property. In another embodiment, the composition comprises a polymer and fragments. The fragments comprise the reaction product of a free-radically polymerizable group bonded to a polymer chain and a pendent hydroxyl group.
