Abstract: Described herein are microperforated polymeric films comprising: opposed first and second surfaces separated by a first certain distance (40a); and a plurality of channels perpendicular to the first and second surfaces, wherein a first opening (20a-c) of a channel intersects the first surface and a second opening (22a-c) of the channel intersects the second surface; wherein the diameter of the first opening is larger than the diameter of the second opening and the second openings on the second surface are spaced apart by a second certain distance (50a); wherein the ratio of the first certain distance to the second certain distance is at least 0.25; and further wherein the second surface has an open area of at least 10%. Also described are methods of making and using such microperforated polymeric films.

Abstract: Polymerizable isocyanurate monomers and dental compositions are described. A hardenable dental composition is described comprising at least one isocyanurate monomer that is a stable liquid at about 25° C. The isocyanurate monomer comprises at least one divalent linking group bonded to a nitrogen atom of a trivalent isocyanuric acid ring, wherein the divalent linking group comprises a moiety selected from ester, thioester, ether, or thioether, and combinations of such moieties and a terminal ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group.
Abstract: A mounting mat (16) comprising at least one inorganic layer (18) comprising inorganic materials suitable for mounting a pollution control element in a pollution control device. A friction-inducing material (20) is disposed on at least one side of the inorganic layer (18). The deposited friction-inducing material (20) defines a higher friction area exhibiting a static coefficient of friction higher than that of the inorganic materials. A lower friction layer (20) is disposed so as to cover at least a portion of the higher friction area and define an exposed surface area of the mounting mat (16). The exposed surface area exhibits a lower static coefficient of friction than that of the higher friction area. The lower friction layer (20) no longer covers a substantial portion of the higher friction area, after the mounting mat (16) mounts a pollution control element (14) in a pollution control device (10).

Abstract: Optical adhesives that also diffuse visible light include a blend of an adhesive matrix which is an optical adhesive and a block copolymer. The adhesive may be a pressure sensitive adhesive and contains either acid or basic functionality. The block copolymer, which may be a diblock copolymer, contains a high Tg block and a functional block, the functionality of the functional block is complimentary to the functionality of the adhesive matrix to form an acid-base interaction. The adhesive may also contain a crosslinking agent.

Abstract: Polymers, particularly those used in pressure-sensitive adhesives, are prepared from a mixture of structural isomers of a secondary alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer. The mixture is made by dehydrating a biobased C2-C22 alcohol with a first acid catalyst using a continuous process to form a mixture of olefins, and reacting (meth)acrylic acid with at least some of the mixture of olefins in the presence of a second acid catalyst. The adhesives are characterized by exhibiting an overall balance of adhesive and cohesive characteristics, and containing biobased material.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, devices, and techniques for automatically identifying missing or ambiguous information in documentation associated with a patient. For example, a system may include one or more computing devices configured to receive documentation comprising a plurality of documented items related to the patient and determine, based on at least a subset of the plurality of documented items, one or more undocumented items missing from the documentation, wherein the subset of the plurality of documented items and at least one of the one or more undocumented items define a medical concept. The one or more computing devices may also be configured to generate, based on the one or more undocumented items, a code representative of the one or more undocumented items and output the code.

Abstract: A die comprising two die cavities, with each capable of supplying polymeric material, and a distribution plate interposed between at least a portion of each of the two die cavities. The distribution plate has a dispensing edge and a plurality of extrusion channels. First and second extrusion channels extend from entrance openings at the first and second die cavities, respectively, to exit openings on the dispensing edge. The exit openings of the first and second extrusion channels are disposed in alternating positions along the dispensing edge. A method of extruding with such a die and an extruded article made therefrom are also disclosed. The method includes co-extruding a first polymeric composition and a second polymeric composition. The extruded article comprises a plurality of longitudinal first stripes of the first polymeric composition alternating with a plurality of longitudinal second stripes of the second polymeric composition.
