Abstract: A filter holder is disclosed comprising a base for supporting the filter holder on a work surface and a holder arm attacked to the base. The holder arm comprises a base end and an indexing axis passing through the base end. A rotor is rotatably connected to the base end and comprises a plurality of filter cradles each arranged generally parallel to the indexing axis and affixed to the rotor such that, when the holder arm is in the indexing position, the rotor is rotatable about the indexing axis to move a selected filter cradle into a loading position.
Abstract: A strap retaining device having an actuation arm that may engage a retaining tab is provided. In an exemplary embodiment, the strap retaining device includes a frame, a retention tab pivotally connected to the frame, and an actuation arm connected to the frame and having a first actuation element movable towards the retention tab from a neutral position to an actuated. The first actuation ramp is movable in a first plane to cause the retention tab to move in a second plane that is perpendicular to the first plane.

Abstract: A system for projecting changeable electronic content across multiple display surfaces. The system includes display surfaces arranged at a non-zero angle with respect to one another, such as three orthogonal display surfaces in the corner of a rectangular shaped product container. Changeable electronic content, including video and digital still images, is converted such that, when the projector receives and projects the content to the multiple display surfaces, the content is displayed undistorted to a viewer.

Abstract: Lens assemblies for use in remote phosphor lighting systems, and methods of making and using them, are described. The lens assemblies typically include a lens member, a dichroic reflector attached to an outer surface of the lens member, and a phosphor layer attached to an inner surface of the lens member. The dichroic reflector reflects LED light originating from a given source point in a reference plane proximate the inner surface to a given image point in the reference plane. The phosphor layer may be patterned to cover one or more first portions of the inner surface and to expose one or more second portions, and/or the phosphor layer may be removably bonded to the inner surface. The lens assemblies can be readily combined with one or more short wavelength (e.g. blue) LEDs and other components to provide a remote phosphor lighting system.

Abstract: The disclosed hydrophobic adhesive composition comprises a hydrophobic adhesive matrix and water absorbent fibers dispersed throughout the adhesive matrix to provide water management capabilities to the adhesive composition. The disclosed adhesive composition can adhered to a variety of surfaces, such as skin, and will easily remove from the surface. Therefore, the disclosed adhesive is particularly well suitable for application to skin wherein the absorbent fiber can absorb perspiration, water, or wound fluid from skin.

Abstract: Protective headgear and an optical filter cartridge that is removably mountable thereto, and methods of removably inserting such a cartridge and removing such a cartridge.
Abstract: A lighting system has one or more light guides capable of guiding light, each comprising a core and two optically smooth faces. A cavity adjacent to two of the optically smooth faces has an opening and a reflective-transmissive surface opposite the opening. A cover having a light source is proximate to and occludes the opening. A major portion of any light emitted from the light source is reflected by the reflective-transmissive surface of the cavity and is injected into the light guides, and a minor portion of any light emitted by the light source is transmitted through the reflective-transmissive surfaces of the cavity and emitted from the lighting system. A light injection coupler is also disclosed that has an optically transmissive housing and suitable for use to couple ends of at least one light guide thereby making a lighting system.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for micro-contact printing on a substrate. A roll having very low drag is supported for rotation by air bearings and has a micro-contact printing stamp mounted to its outer surface. Contact between the substrate and the micro-contact printing stamp drives the roll and repeatedly imprints the pattern onto the web. In convenient embodiments, the roll is a sleeve positioned over a core with the sleeve supported for rotation by a layer of air between the sleeve and the core.

Abstract: Grafted compounds are formed by reacting (1) a first compound having both an aziridinyl group and a polymeric group with (2) a second compound having at least one acidic group. This reaction results in the opening of the aziridinyl ring on the first compound by the acidic group on the second compound and the formation of an attachment group that connects polymeric group of the first compound to the second compound. In some embodiments, the second compound is a polymeric material having multiple acidic groups and the product of the reaction of the first compound with the second compound results in the formation of a grafted copolymer.

Abstract: Polymer fibers are formed with concentric alternating layers of different polymer materials. The layers pairs have cross-sectional thicknesses selected for reflecting light at a selected visible wavelength. A cross-sectional dimension of the core is at least ten times an average of the selected thicknesses of the alternating layers. Some articles formed by the fibers are formed by attaching one fiber to another: the color of the fibers at the point of attachment is different from the colors of the fibers elsewhere. The fibers may be deformed to change its color properties by elongating the cross-section of the polymer fiber along a first cross-sectional axis. In some embodiments, the fibers are polarization sensitive.

Abstract: A filtering face-piece respirator 10 that comprises a mask body 12 and a harness 14 that is joined to the mask body 12. The mask body 12 includes a filter layer 30 and a nonwoven fibrous cover web 16. The fibrous cover web 16 is partially occluded and is generally parallel to and spaced from the filter layer 30 such that air passing through the cover web 16 can move freely between the cover web 16 and the filter layer 30 so that it can enter the filter layer 30 at essentially any available point over the filter layer surface 32. The inventive respirator is beneficial in that it can provide very good splash fluid and airborne contaminant protection while also exhibiting an extraordinary low pressure drop across the mask body during breathing.
