  • Patent number: 6242538
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for making gel-free functionalized polymers. When multi-lithium initiators are used to make these polymers anionically, the process comprises anionically polymerizing at least one monomer with a multi-lithium initiator in a hydrocarbon solvent, functionalizing the polymer by adding to the polymer a capping agent that reacts with the ends of the polymer chains such that strongly-associating chain ends are formed wherein a polymer gel is formed, adding a trialkyl aluminum compound to the polymer gel, whereby the gel dissipates, adding a sufficient amount of a proton source to provide at least 1 mole of protons per mole of lithium ions and at least 2 moles of protons per mole of aluminum wherein the proton source is an organic acid with a pKa of 11 or less or a mixture of the organic acid and an alkanol, provided that sufficient organic acid is added to provide at least 0.

  • Patent number: 6242314
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a on-chip temperature controller by co-implanting P-type and N-type ions into poly load resistors. The N and P type implant dose can be selected to create the desired cut-off temperature. First, a polysilicon layer 30 is formed on a first insulation layer 20. The polysilicon layer 30 is patterning to form a first poly-load resistor 30A and a second poly-load resistor 30B. The first and the second poly-load resistors are connected to a temperature sensor circuit 12. Both p-type and n-type impurity ions are implanted into the polysilicon layer 30. An insulating dielectric layer 40 is formed over the polysilicon layer 30 and the first insulating layer 20. The polysilicon layer is annealed. The contact openings 44 are formed through the ILD dielectric layer 40 exposing portions of the polysilicon layer 30. Contacts 50 to the polysilicon layer 30 thereby forming a first and second poly-load resistors which are used a temperature on-chip sensors.

  • Patent number: 6242896
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for converting available electrical power to desirable electrical power. One embodiment of the techniques calls for a boost circuit to convert low power Win at a terminal TVin to high power Wout at a terminal TVout. The boost circuit includes a voltage generation circuit, a capacitor Cstore, a timing-control generator, and a boost regulator. The voltage generation circuit converts voltage Vin at terminal TVin to voltage Vstore at a terminal TVstore wherein, in one embodiment, Vstore is less than Vin. Further, the current Icharge provided by the voltage generation circuit at terminal TVstore is less than the current Iin at terminal TVin. In one embodiment, capacitor Cstore, being charged by current Icharge, stores necessary charge to provide appropriate currents and voltages to the boost regulator. The timing-control generator uses voltages Vin and Vstore to provide a timing-control signal Tcontrol, which controls the timing operation of the boost regulator.
