  • Patent number: 6240332
Abstract: A controller, for use with a fastener installation apparatus having a primary turret tooling head and an opposed reactionary tooling head, includes a data acquisition computer and several servomotors controlled by the computer for operatively connecting the computer to the primary tooling head turret for rotatably positioning the turret, and actuating the tools. The servo operated drive systems are computer operated and numerically controlled to position the turret relative to the work piece for accurate and repeatable positioning of the tools on the turret over the desired location of the hole without sacrificing desirable machine rigidity for some fastening operations. The system includes programming means operable to cause the computer to rotate the primary turret tooling head and actuate the tools using the computer numerically controlled servo motors for remotely controlling both the linear carriage position, the turret angular rotation, and actuation of the tools.

  • Patent number: 6239597
Abstract: The present invention relates to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and includes a method and apparatus to rapidly acquire T2 weighted MR images in a repetition time comparable to times usually associated with T1 weighted imaging. The invention also includes a pulse sequence for use with MR image acquisition to accomplish the foregoing. Two embodiments are disclosed, both of which have in common the use of a pulse sequence that has a first and second RF pulse, each RF pulse separated by an interval &tgr; and wherein the phase of the second and subsequent RF pulses is incremented linearly so as to spoil undesirable RF signal coherences so that the system can operate in steady state and acquire pure T2 weighted image in a time (TR) usually associated with T1 date acquisition.

  • Patent number: 6239235
Abstract: An olefin polymerization process wherein monomer, diluent and catalyst are circulated in a continuous loop reactor and product slurry is recovered by means of a continuous product take off. The continuous product allows operating the reaction at significantly higher solids content in the circulating slurry. In a preferred embodiment, the slurry is heated in a flash line heater and passed to a high pressure flash where a majority of the diluent is separated and thereafter condensed by simple heat exchange, without compression, and thereafter recycled. Also an olefin polymerization process operating at higher reactor solids by virtue of more aggressive circulation.

  • Patent number: 6237908
Abstract: In order to be able to eliminate a mechanical caliper, a bindery line has a plurality of signature feeders or packer boxes each of which is operable to feed a signature therefrom. A collating conveyor passes by each of the signature feeders or packer boxes along a signature conveying path so as to be operable to receive signatures from the signature feeders or packer boxes in collated form for forming a book. A book finishing section is downstream of the signature feeders or packer boxes for forming the book from the signatures received in collated order after the collating conveyor has passed by each of the signature feeders or packer boxes in travel along the signature conveying path. With this arrangement, the invention utilizes detectors for detecting a missing signature, an incorrect signature, a double signature, a conveyor jam, a hanging book, and a long book.

  • Patent number: 6238682
Abstract: An anhydrous lotion composition for killing viruses and bacteria in addition to imparting a soft, lubricious, lotion-like feel when applied to tissue paper and tissue paper treated with such lotion compositions are disclosed. The antiviral action of the lotion is due to the addition of an organic acid such as citric acid or salicylic acid. The antibacterial action is due to the addition of antibacterial agents such as TRICLOSAN®. The solubilization of the antiviral and antibacterial agents within the lotion matrix is aided by the addition of hydrophilic solvents and hydrophilic surfactants. The lubricious lotions also contain a plastic or fluid skin conditioning agent such as petrolatum, an optional immobilizing agent such as a fatty alcohol or fatty acid to immobilize the skin conditioning agent on the surface of the tissue paper web and a hydrophilic surfactant to improve wettability when applied to toilet tissue.
