  • Patent number: 6173309
Abstract: User code is operated in either a multithreaded or non-threaded programming environment by linking the code to different libraries. A standard thread library is linked with the code when operated in a multithreaded mode. A null thread library is linked to the code to operate in a non-threaded mode. The different libraries are linked to the user code through a common application programming interface allowing the same thread function calls to operate in either the multithreaded or non-threaded mode. The null thread library implements thread function calls as blocking functions which synchronize thread launches while eliminating the performance and memory overhead required in multithreaded processes.

  • Patent number: 6170244
Abstract: A pickup reel for a harvesting platform including a reel support structure with a reel shaft rotatably supported thereon. A plurality of radially extending arms are mounted to the reel shaft and a plurality of transverse rockshafts are mounted to the radially extending arms and are axially offset and parallel to the reel shaft and span the width of the platform. Radial fingers are mounted on each rockshaft. A cam is mounted to the support structure adjacent one or both ends of the rockshafts and defines an endless cam path about the reel shaft. A crank arm attached to each rockshaft carries a cam follower that engages the cam path for following along the path. The cam path is configured to cause the crank arms, and thus the rockshafts, to rotate about the respective rockshaft axis to vary the attitude of the fingers relative to the ground as the cam followers move along the cam path. The cam is segmented, having two or more cam segments joined together to form the endless cam path.

  • Patent number: 6170210
Abstract: A continuous gear hinge, having extruded aluminum leaves and an extruded aluminum cap which holds the leaves together at meshed gear segments on the leaves, has the capacity to establish a seal between the door and hinge jamb to which it is attached. That seal derives from intumescent strips which lie in recesses that open out of the of the leaves. In the presence of a fire, the intumescent material, the strips of which extend the full length of the hinge, expands and bonds to the door and hinge jamb to not only seal the space between the two, but also to secure the door should the hinge lose its capacity to hold the door.

  • Patent number: 6171649
Abstract: An improved, pre-coated aluminum-alloy aircraft component prepared by providing an aluminum-alloy component precursor to a coating apparatus having a fluidized-bed or mist apparatus, suspending the components in the fluidized-bed apparatus vertically at a distance from the bottom of the apparatus and introducing a coating to the apparatus to coat the components while being suspended in the airstream flowing through the apparatus. The non-contact, fluidized-bed or mist coating method allows for the coating of increased batch sizes in shorter coating times with decreased variations in coating thickness and uniformity.

  • Patent number: 6170304
Abstract: A lock that may be inserted into a standardized locking aperture, such as a standard Kensington key lock slot in the cover of a computer or other electronic device to secure the cover to the chassis of the computer or device in order to prevent unauthorized access to the internal components of the computer or electronic device. The lock may be easily installed by the end user rather than having the locking mechanism installed during the manufacture of the computer with the additional cost of a locking mechanism added to all computers. Further, the locking mechanism may be removably attached to the outer cover of the computer or electronic device by means of an adhesive, double sided tape, Velcro, a hook or magnet, so that the locking mechanism may be removed and reused with a different computer or electronic device as the device is replaced, upgraded, etc. or as security needs change.

  • Patent number: 6171914
Abstract: A method of source/drain and LDD implantation using a single implantation step is described. A gate electrode is formed in an active area on surface of a semiconductor substrate. The gate electrode and the semiconductor substrate are covered with a resist layer. • Patent number: 6170165
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring a gap between two opposing surfaces by utilizing a dial gauge instead of feeler gauges is disclosed. The apparatus includes a mounting block, an extension arm and a dial gauge which may be used to measure any gap distance between about 0.01 mm and about 10 mm. The method is carried out by first zeroing the dial gauge by utilizing a calibration block which has the same thickness as the gap distance to be measured. The novel method and apparatus can be used to replace a conventional feeler gauge method and achieve the benefits of greatly improved precision in measurement, a short measurement time required and completely eliminating human error due to operator dependency.
