  • Publication number: 20110208994
Abstract: Rebuilding lost data in a distributed redundancy data storage system including multiple nodes, is provided. User data is stored as a collection of stripes, each stripe comprising a collection of data strips and associated parity strips, the stripes distributed across multiple corresponding data owner nodes and multiple corresponding parity owner nodes. A data owner node maintains the associated data strip holding a first copy of data, and a parity owner node maintains a parity strip holding a parity for the collection of data strips. Upon detecting a failure condition, the owner node initiates a rebuilding protocol for recovery of lost data and/or parity it owns. The protocol includes reconstruction of lost data or parity by a computation involving data and/or parity from a recovery strip set in a stripe, wherein a recovery strip set contains at least one surviving data or parity strip. The recovery strip set for a lost data strip contains at least one surviving parity strip.

  • Publication number: 20110208870
Abstract: Described herein are embodiments for setting, managing, and monitoring connection policies for a plurality of network paths from a first endpoint to a second endpoint. In embodiments, a set of candidate addresses from a first endpoint and a set of candidate addresses from a second endpoint are received. Each candidate address of the first endpoint is paired with each candidate address of the second endpoint to create a plurality of candidate address pairs. Each candidate address pair has an associated network path. The network path is the route by which data flows to and from the various endpoints. Once all network paths between each candidate address pair have been determined, a connection policy is set for each network address pair and the associated network path.

Abstract: A heavy vehicle door or ramp is opened and closed using an intuitive control system. The door includes a latch assembly, a lock assembly, and a power unit to assist in opening and closing the door. The door includes an interior joy stick handle and an exterior lever handle. From outside the vehicle, the door is opened and closed by pivoting the lever handle downwardly and upwardly, respectively. From the interior of the vehicle, the joy stick handle is pulled inwardly to close the door and push outwardly to open the door. Pivoting the joystick handle forwardly engages the blast locks, while pivoting the joystick handle rearwardly unlatches the latch assembly and disengages the blast locks. The power assist unit is actuated by pivotal movement of the outside door handle and lateral pivotal movement of the interior joystick handle. • Patent number: 8005933
Abstract: A servlet filter receives all incoming requests for dynamic content and can be used to ensure that the load on a server does not become too great during the time the server is engaged in start-up. The filter is configured to be the first filter encountered and will evaluate a series of conditions to determine if the request is to be throttled. For selected URLs, a given percentage of the first requests received after start-up are automatically throttled. If the request is throttled, a message is sent to the user that the server is busy but to try later. Servlets that are not throttled are allowed to flow through to be processed normally.

  • Patent number: 8005824
Abstract: A method of and service for searching computerized networks, such as the internet, that first performs a search based on a user query to produce results that are ranked. The results comprise references to entities (addresses on the network, such as web sites). Before reporting the results to the user, the invention provides that the search entity contacts the entities listed in the search results to determine whether entities listed in the search results desire to change their rank when compared to other entities listed in the results. If some entities do desire to change their rank, the invention charges fees to entities that increase their rank and credits (pays fees) to entities that decrease their rank.

  • Patent number: 8006170
Abstract: A bit quality evaluator receives a sequence of bits. A quality measure is assigned to each bit within the sequence. The bit sequence and the quality measures are provided to a decoding device that performs soft decision convolutional decoding on the sequence of bits using the quality measure. An off-path detector detects an occurrence of a trellis decode path change during the convolutional decoding operation and identifies a first symbol proximate corresponding to the occurrence of the trellis decode path change. An erasure decision circuit identifies at least the first symbol for erasure. The output of the first decoder and the erasure decision circuit are received at a second decoder, which decoder decodes the output of the first decoder after erasing at least the first symbol. The erasure decision circuit may also identify additional symbols for erasure based on performance measures of the trellis decode path and the quality measure of the sequence of bits.
