Abstract: A flash-based programmable integrated circuit includes programmable circuitry, a flash memory array coupled to the programmable circuitry for configuring it, flash programming circuitry for programming the flash memory array, and an on-chip intelligence, such as a microcontroller or state machine, coupled to the programming circuitry to program the flash memory from off-chip data supplied via an I/O pad, or to refresh the data stored in the flash memory to prevent it from degrading.

Abstract: Reliably identifying an AP through which a user device is accessing one or more networks, and reliably determining the current network location of the user device. An AP and network location may be reliably identified using a set of transmitter fingerprints unique to the AP or network location, respectively. In response to a user device receiving at least one signal from at least one unknown entity, a transmitter fingerprint set of the at least one entity may be determined from the at least one signal. It then may be determined whether the at least one entity is an AP having an ID known to the user device, and/or whether the current network location is known by the user device. The user device may determine information that may be divulged with the at least one entity based on this determination.

Abstract: A method, a system, and an apparatus for efficiently presenting correction options. The present invention is capable of analyzing user voice commands and sorting multiple input requests based on user selection probability to determine whether a confirmation step should be presented and, if so, the manner in which the confirmation step should be presented. In particular, the method requests an information input from the user and then assigns a confidence level to the information input. If the confidence level is LOW, then the system performs an immediate confirmation step. If the confidence level assigned is MEDIUM or HIGH, then the information is placed into a data set that is confirmed in a batch confirmation step. The batch confirmation step presents the captured information to the user for confirmation. If any of the information is incorrect, then the method sorts the information in ascending order by confidence level and creates a menu of items that may be changed. The user then makes the change.

Abstract: In community mining based on core objects and affiliated objects, a set of core objects for a community of objects are identified from a plurality of objects. The community is expanded, based on the set of core objects, to include a set of affiliated objects. According to one aspect, a model of a community of objects is obtained by grouping a first collection of a plurality of objects into a center portion, and grouping a second collection of the plurality of objects into one or more concentric portions around the center portion. The groupings of the first and second collections of the objects are identified as the community of objects.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for generating song playlists for use in an immersive virtual environment. Generally, playlists may be generated based on stored music preference data. The music preference data may be generated by storing user interactions with specific songs. The user interactions may be associated with characteristics of the user's situational context within the virtual world. The music preference data may be indexed by song name, and/or by musical properties. Subsequently, the music preference data may be used to generate a playlist adapted to the user's current situation within the virtual world.

Abstract: A method of closely interconnecting integrated circuits contained within a semiconductor wafer to electrical circuits surrounding the semiconductor wafer. Electrical interconnects are held to a minimum in length by making efficient use of polyimide or polymer as an inter-metal dielectric thus enabling the integration of very small integrated circuits within a larger circuit environment at a minimum cost in electrical circuit performance.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus which includes: an interferometer configured to direct broadband spatially coherent test light to a test surface of a test object over a range of illumination angles and subsequently combine it with reference light to form an interference pattern, the test and reference light being derived from a common source; and multi-element detector; and one or more optics configured to direct at least a portion of the combined light to the detector so that different elements of the detector correspond to different illumination angles of a region of the test surface illuminated by the test light.

Abstract: A hardware-independent proxy layer for synchronous processing of commands in a mobile telephone is disclosed. Such synchronous processing may include receiving a function call of an application program interface (API) that is associated with a function to be performed by a mobile telephone, waiting to receive from a driver layer a result notify event indicating that the function has been performed, and, after receiving the result notify event from the driver layer, passing to the client first result data associated with the first result notify event. The API may be translated into an input/output control (IOCTL) code, which may be sent to the driver layer.

Abstract: The method for manufacturing an electronic part includes a step of forming an opening hole onto an insulating member sandwiched between a conductor film and a lower conductor layer, from the conductor film, a step of making a surface of the lower conductor layer adhering the insulating member as bottom of the opening hole, and making a metal plating as a conductor portion grow in the opening hole from the lower conductor layer. In the method, after metal plating has reached the conductor film, the metal plating is grown on the conductor film and the conductor portion as electrode, to thereby form a thickness enough to form an upper conductive layer.

Abstract: A methodology is disclosed to achieve adaptive illumination independent matching of out-of-gamut spot colors. In one embodiment, the methodology includes an iterative process to determine a variety device specific recipes for out-of-gamut spot colors across different illumination spectra and gamut mapping techniques, and then automatically choosing and/or recommending the optimal recipe and gamut mapping technique that provides the lowest color dispersion across a variety of illuminants under consideration.

Abstract: A user interface with biomass deflection information for biomass collection. In one embodiment, crop material such as the residue or material other than grain (MOG) from the back of the combine is directly projected toward a target on a baler collection device. A tailboard with defection panels may be used to alter the direction of the crop residue from the combine. The tongue of the baler is configured to not obstruct the crop material as the crop material is projected toward the baler. One or more knives of a chopper coupled to the combine may be configured to optimally project MOG toward the baler. Also, the stuffer chute of the baler may be configured to facilitate the flow of crop material such as MOG and therefore minimize obstructions. The crop material is transferred from the combine to the baler without the use of a conveyor.

Abstract: Methods and systems for the production of phthalic acid diesters are described herein. The methods and systems incorporate the novel use of a high shear device to promote dispersion and mixing of a phthalic acid derivative with alcohol. The high shear device may allow for lower reaction temperatures and pressures and may also reduce reaction time with existing catalysts.

Abstract: Irradiation of a surface of a material with a gas cluster ion beam modifies the wettability of the surface. The wettability may be increased or decreased dependent on the characteristics of the gas cluster ion beam. Improvements in wettability of a surface by the invention exceed those obtained by conventional plasma cleaning or etching. The improvements may be applied to surfaces of medical devices, such as vascular stents for example, and may be used to enable better wetting of medical device surfaces with liquid drugs in preparation for adhesion of the drug to the device surfaces. A mask may be used to limit processing to a portion of the surface. Medical devices formed by using the methods of the invention are disclosed.

Abstract: Poultry carcasses are contacted with water treated with one or more specified dihalodialkylhydantoin biocides in a processing operation downstream from a scalding tank. The aqueous effluent from that downstream operation or from any location further downstream is recycled to the scalding tank. Surprisingly, the bromine residues from the dihalodialkylhydantoin biocides are much more thermally unstable than, for example, the commonly used microbiocide, sodium hypochlorite. Thus, the effluent from the scalding tank has its active bromine content significantly reduced before it is sent to a water purification facility wherein microbial action is used to reduce the BOD of the waste water before its release to the environment. Thus, injury to this desired microbial action is reduced. In addition, the recycle reduces water consumption in the overall poultry processing operation.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for a home network registers an application with a NetManager, and provides a handler to the NetManager to control discovery of desired devices or services for the application. In one aspect of the present invention, the home network is an OpenCable Application Platform home network, and the desired devices or services are Universal Plug and Play devices or services. The method receives an event notification from the NetManager when the NetManager discovers a device or service that is one of the desired devices or services, creates an object instance of NetModule for the device or service, and accesses a standard interface for the device or service through the object instance of NetModule. The method accesses the standard interface by posting an XML document to the device or service using an interface of the object instance of NetModule.
