  • Patent number: 7849299
Abstract: Provided is a means for accessing multiple entries from a branch history table (BHT) in a single clock cycle, in the context of pipelined instruction processing. In a first clock cycle, a plurality of conditional branch instructions is fetched. A value is accessed from a global history record (GHR) of conditional branch resolutions and predictions for a fetched conditional branch instruction. An associated instruction address is hashed with a left-shifted GHR value. The result is used to access a word in an indexed BHT stored in a single-port random access memory (RAM). The word comprises a branch direction count for the plurality of fetched conditional branch instructions. In a second clock cycle a conditional branch instruction is executed at an execute stage and the BHT is written with an updated branch direction count in response to a resolution of the executed conditional branch instruction.

  • Patent number: 7849449
Abstract: System and method for implementing a design flow for a programmable hardware element (PHE) that includes a processor. A graphical program (GP) is received, where the GP specifies performance criteria. The GP is mapped for deployment, with a first portion targeted for execution by the processor, and a second portion targeted for implementation in the PHE. A determination is made as to whether the graphical program meets the performance criteria. If not, the GP is remapped for deployment, including identifying and specifying the sub-portion for implementation in the PHE, thereby moving the sub-portion from the first portion to the second portion, and/or identifying and specifying the sub-portion for execution on the processor, thereby moving the sub-portion from the second portion to the first portion. The determining and remapping is repeated one or more times until the performance criteria are met. The first and second portions are deployed to the PHE.

  • Patent number: 7849389
Abstract: LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) coded modulation symbol decoding. Symbol decoding is supported by appropriately modifying an LDPC tripartite graph to eliminate the bit nodes thereby generating an LDPC bipartite graph (such that symbol nodes are appropriately mapped directly to check nodes thereby obviating the bit nodes). The edges that communicatively couple the symbol nodes to the check nodes are labeled appropriately to support symbol decoding of the LDPC coded modulation signal. The iterative decoding processing may involve updating the check nodes as well as estimating the symbol sequence and updating the symbol nodes. In some embodiments, an alternative hybrid decoding approach may be performed such that a combination of bit level and symbol level decoding is performed. This LDPC symbol decoding out-performs bit decoding only. In addition, it provides comparable or better performance of bit decoding involving iterative updating of the associated metrics.

  • Patent number: 7846984
Abstract: If an ultraviolet curing resin is colored by contamination by another substance, there have been issues regarding increased cost and the environmental burden of treating the waste solution due to an inability to recycle the resin as it is. The ultraviolet curing resin that is in a colored, uncured state is decolored in the present invention by irradiation of light having a wavelength in the vicinity of the maximum absorption wavelength of the coloring material, and then recycled. As a result, it is possible to reduce costs and contribute to the protection of the environment.

  • Patent number: 7844614
Abstract: In some embodiments, a method and apparatus for enhanced revocation of direct proof and direct anonymous attestation are described. In one embodiment a trusted hardware device verifies that membership of the device within a trusted membership group is not revoked according to a revocation list received with a challenge request from a verifier. Once such verification is performed, the device convinces the verifier of possessing cryptographic information without revealing unique, device identification information of the trusted hardware device or the cryptographic information. In one embodiment, the trusted hardware device computes a digital signature on a message received with the challenge request to the verifier if membership of the anonymous hardware device within a trusted membership group is verified.
