Abstract: A data dictionary is provided that specifies the entities and corresponding attributes for the application program interface developers to use. An extensible markup language interface is provided for customers to perform operations on the data. Application program interfaces receive extensible markup language requests and generate extensible markup language response documents that may return data from the database. A set of classes is also provided that correspond to the entities that are defined in the data dictionary. These classes define utility methods for use in retrieving data. The application program interface then appends the returned response object at the depth necessary in order to generate an extensible markup language document.

Abstract: A method and system for maintaining partial order of packets in packet processing modules is described. The system includes a memory and a plurality of packet processing modules to process packets that are part of a sequence in order. The memory stores a plurality of indicators, each indicator associated with one of the plurality of packet processing modules to identify which packets in the sequence are to be processed by the packet processing module and which packets in the sequence are to be skipped. The next packet in the sequence to be processed by the packet processing module is determined based on the stored indicators. A packet received at the packet processing module is processed if the packet is the next packet in the sequence to be processed.

Abstract: A focused ion beam apparatus and a focused ion beam irradiation method are disclosed. Even in the case where a magnetic field exists on the optical axis of an ion beam and the particular magnetic field undergoes a change, the ion beam is focused without separating the isotopes on the sample at the same ion beam spot position as if the magnetic field is not existent. A canceling magnetic field is generated on the optical axis of the ion beam from a canceling magnetic field generator thereby to offset the deflection of the ion beam due to the external magnetic field.

Abstract: A method and associated system for effectively increasing the number of antenna elements within a multi-element antenna system through computation of a response of “virtual” antenna elements located along an antenna array. The physical elements of the array are positioned sufficiently near each other to enable synthesis of a polynomial or other mathematical expression characterizing the response of the array to receipt of an incident waveform. Values of the responses associated with the virtual antenna elements of the array may then be determined through evaluation of the synthesized polynomial or other expression. The resultant array response values associated with the virtual and physical elements of the array are then provided to an associated receiver for processing.
Abstract: A connector is disclosed for preventing electrostatic discharge during connection of a USB-type connector. The connector includes a grounding clip provided within a recess formed at least partially down into the surface of the second level of the base block. The grounding clip may have a proximal end affixed to a proximal end of a signal ground pin of the plurality of signal pins, though the grounding clip and signal ground pin may be coupled at other locations along their lengths. The connector including the grounding clip may be affixed to a semiconductor device. A portion of the grounding clip is provided at a height above the surface of the base block such that, when a shroud is slid around the connector, the shroud engages and remains in contact with the grounding clip. Accordingly, any electrostatic discharge built up in the shroud travels from the shroud, through the ESD grounding clip, to the signal ground pin where it is harmlessly dissipated.

Abstract: A processor-based system may be operated in an effectively “always on” condition. The system may transition from a lower power consumption state to a higher power consumption state in response to the first operation of a power button. In response to a second operation of the power button, the system transitions from the higher power consumption state to the lower power consumption state. However, unless the system is unplugged, the system remains in a power consuming state even when the power button is repeatedly operated.

Abstract: A system for distributing information via short-range wireless communication. A mobile server receives information from an information provider for distribution to encountered devices. The information received from the service provider may contain both content to be distributed and context information that controls how the content is distributed. The mobile server may sense current environmental conditions, which are compared to distribution rules created from the context information to control how content information is distributed. The present invention is suitable for many applications, including the distribution of podcast-related information.
Abstract: A system and a method for optically communicating information between a display and a camera that is observing the display. In general, the transmission of information is unidirectional in a direction from the display to the camera. The display transmits information to the camera that is observing the display by displaying a series of symbols and images (such as an alphabet) on the display. Information (such as a network address of the display or camera) may be transmitted to the camera without any prior shared knowledge between the two. The present invention also is capable of determining a spatial location (or pose) of the display (relative to a camera observing the display) by observing a pattern presented on the display and using well-known correlation techniques.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method of determining the path of a signal between a donor network element and a remote station, the donor network element being associated with at least one repeater, comprising the steps of: receiving at the remote station a plurality of signals associated with a plurality of network elements; calculating an estimate of the distance between the remote station and each network element, including an estimate of the distance between the remote station and each repeater associated with the donor network element; determining the one of said estimates of the distance between the donor network element and at least one, associated repeater and remote station which most closely approximates to the distance between the other network elements and the remote station; and selecting that donor network element/repeater to be the source of the signal.
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment of the invention relates to a method, system, and storage medium for resolving contention issues by a channel in a fiber optic switch environment that occur during channel program execution. The method comprises a channel receiving a status packet indicating a device is no longer busy. The method also includes specifying whether the channel intends to re-initiate a channel program that previously resulted in the device busy status. If the channel does not intend to re-initiate the channel program, a first combination of bits in a re-initiate field of a status-acceptance packet are set which indicate that the channel will take no further action. If the channel intends to re-initiate the channel program, a second combination of bits in the re-initiate field of the status-acceptance packet are set, indicating that the channel will re-initiate the channel program. The method further includes transmitting the status-acceptance packet to a control unit.

Abstract: The system stores a storage address ADK1 of a page table element PEK1 that was being processed when a bus reset occurred, of page table elements of a page table specified by an ORB1. The system then reads out a storage address ADK2 of a page table element PEK2 having the same element number as PEK1, of page table elements of an ORB2 after the bus reset occurs, and restarts data transfer when ADK1 and ADK2 are the same. When the page table is absent, addresses DAD1 and DAD2 that are specified directly by the ORB1 and the ORB2 are compared. When data transfer is not be restarted but a command CMD1 of the ORB1 has already been issued to a device, the CMD1 is aborted.
