Patent number: 7180861Abstract: A system and method for prioritizing the transmission of packets in a wireless local area network. A station selects a packet from local priority queuing and identifies the priority bits of the packet. The station declares the priority of the selected packet based on the binary value of the priority bits. If the station detects that another station has selected a packet with a higher priority, then the station ceases to contend for transmission during the current transmission cycle.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2001Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: Intel CorporationInventor: Tomasz Janczak

Patent number: 7181637Abstract: A method and system are provided for processing data packets at a data-transfer network node. The method and system include determining a length of time that a packet has been buffered at the node by associating a timer with each data packet received and buffered in the node's central queue. The central queue subsequently reads the associated timer to determine a length of time that a data packet has been buffered prior to the data packet being transmitted by the node. If a packet has been buffered too long, then the queue discards the packet. Otherwise, the queue permits transmission of the packet. The amount of circuitry in the switching node's central queue is reduced by locating the packet timers in timer logic external to the queue.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2003Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Derrick L. Patent number: 7179977Abstract: A mouthpiece for a brass wind musical instrument is composed solely of a colored polymer material. Its size and shape may be determined by computer coordinate measurements from a conventional metal mouthpiece. The color is chosen to suit the particular purpose of the musician playing the instrument, such as to match the uniforms of a marching band. The mouthpiece is fabricated by injection molding to substantially the desired size and shape. A secondary machining process removes imperfections such as flashings and gate blushes. Alternately, a blank may be injected molded, and the blank machined in a primary machining operation to the desired size, shape, and surface texture. The mouthpiece may also be manufactured by machining a bar of polymer material. The mouthpiece functions in the identical manner as prior metal mouthpieces, but it is much more comfortable to play in cold and hot environments, and it is less costly and more rugged than metal mouthpieces.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2003Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: Superior Solutions CorporationInventor: James Kelly

Patent number: 7180895Abstract: Packets are classified by content across a packet flow by sequencing packets according to packet flows through a content engine. A sequencer tracks packet flows, sending and buffering out-of-order packets to have missing packets resent. A regular expression engine determines matches of regular expressions and subexpressions with regular expressions encoded as non-deterministic finite automata with field programmable gate arrays and subexpression matches computed with a hash and determined by a hash look-up table. A tag module establishes a classification tag for a packet based on the packet's content by matching the tag with the regular expression and subexpressions of the packet.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2001Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: 3Com CorporationInventor: Brian C. Patent number: 7181521Abstract: Currently, global registries, such as ones offered by Microsoft Corporation (uddi.microsoft.com) or Hewlett Packard Corporation (uddi.hp.com), are used to register services offered by or desired by networked devices. Unfortunately, these registries are highly centralized and designed to be repositories for long-lived services, and thus are not amenable to operation of mobile devices, such as laptop computers, personal digital assistants, and other devices whose network address may change frequently as they move in and out of various local network environments. Moreover, when such mobile devices form ad hoc networks, access to the centralized repositories may not be available. To address these issues, devices of a local network may be configured to dynamically select a local master, from among devices attached to the local network and based on characteristics of the devices, where the selected device operates a registry for the local network.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2003Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Robert C. Publication number: 20070033580Abstract: Instructions in an asynchronous transactional messaging language are transformed into instructions that are compatible with the web services. In one embodiment, the asynchronous transactional messaging language is XLANG/s, and the web service languages are the web services description language (WSDL) and the simple object access protocol (SOAP). A programmer simply writes high level declarative statements that pertain to the specific type of business transaction. During compilation, selected instructions are transformed into instructions that are compatible with web services. This transformation is transparent to the designer of the business application. The asynchronous transactional messaging language source files are compiled in an iterative compilation process. During each pass of this compilation process, different variables are parsed. The parsed results are logically organized in a tree structure. The tree structure is traversed in depth first traversal order.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2006Publication date: February 8, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Paul Ringseth, Donald McCrady

Publication number: 20070032251Abstract: A method and system for reporting short message (SM) capability over an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) using a session initiation protocol (SIP) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) registers with a core network and sends a message indicating its SM capability via the IMS to the core network. Publication number: 20070033459Abstract: A semiconductor memory circuit enabling replacement of defective memory elements and associated circuitry with non-defective spare elements of the RAM and associated circuitry, is scanned to enable replacement of a defective RAM element prior to repair of the RAM. A set of set/reset latches are coupled to receive the signal from the memory elements, and a multiplexer control circuit coupled to receive a shift signal and a ram_inhibit signal from a multiplexer to provide specific input signals to the multiplexer components. When a scan operation begins an active clock signal sets a set/reset latch to ram_inhibit mode and this blocks the memory elements from influencing the state of memory output latches, whereby when an memory operation begins, an active clocking signal will reset the set/reset latch into system mode to cause the multiplexers pass appropriate signals from the memory elements to the output latches, and the spare memory element is activated to replace a defective memory element.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2005Publication date: February 8, 2007Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Paul A. Bunce, John D. Davis, Patrick J. Meaney, Donald W. Plass

Publication number: 20070033381Abstract: A method for conditionally performing a SIMD operation causing a predetermined number of result objects to be held in a combination of different ones of a plurality of destination stores, the method comprising receiving and decoding instruction fields to determine at least one source store, a plurality of destination stores and at least one control store, said source and destination stores being capable of holding one or a plurality of objects, each object defining a SIMD lane. Conditional execution of the operation on a per SIMD lane basis is controlled using a plurality of pre-set indicators of the at least one control store designated in the instruction, wherein each said pre-set indicator i controls a predetermined number of result lanes p, where p takes a value greater than or equal to two. A predetermined number of result objects are sent to the destination stores such that the predetermined number of result objects are held by a combination of different ones of the plurality of destination stores.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2006Publication date: February 8, 2007Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventor: Sophie Wilson

Publication number: 20070029800Abstract: A control unit uses upper and lower limit guard values to limit a power generation quantity of a power generator and thereby to maintain the current combustion mode during power generation of the power generator. The control unit computes a remaining electric charge of a battery. When the remaining electric charge drops to a predetermined value or below, the control unit cancels a combustion mode maintaining operation, which maintains the current combustion mode, is cancelled, so that priority is given to the power generation of the power generator to recover the remaining electric charge of the battery. Also, when an electric power consumption in a vehicle is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, the combustion mode maintaining operation is cancelled, and the power generation quantity of the power generator is controlled in a manner that does not cause overdischarge of the battery.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2006Publication date: February 8, 2007Applicant: DENSO CORPORATIONInventors: Yukihiro Yamashita, Makoto Miwa, Daiji Isobe
