  • Patent number: 6868484
Abstract: A cache includes an error circuit for detecting errors in the replacement data. If an error is detected, the cache may update the replacement data to eliminate the error. For example, a predetermined, fixed value may be used for the update of the replacement data. Each of the cache entries corresponding to the replacement data may be represented in the fixed value. In one embodiment, the error circuit may detect errors in the replacement data using only the replacement data (e.g. no parity or ECC information may be used). In this manner, errors may be detected even in the presence of multiple bit errors which may not be detectable using parity/ECC checking.

  • Patent number: 6867517
Abstract: A rectifier of an alternator includes positive and negative rectifier elements. Each rectifier element has a lead wire connected thereto, and a vicinity of a portion connecting the lead wire to the element is sealed with a material such as resin or rubber, forming a sealing portion. To protect the sealing portion against harmful components contained in cooling air blown to the rectifier, a conically shaped terminal connected to the lead wire is disposed to face and cover the sealing portion. The terminal has a sufficiently large surface area for dissipating heat generated in a process of connecting the lead wire to the terminal by welding.

  • Patent number: 6867604
Abstract: A circuit for measuring voltage of a battery or group of batteries whose terminals are not directly accessible. The battery or group of batteries can have three leads. First and second leads are connected to the voltage output of the battery and the third lead is connected to the return of the battery. The three leads may terminate in a three prong plug which may plug into a printed circuit board to form a module. The module can be connected into a rack via an edge connector. A battery voltage measurement circuit can be located on another printed circuit board which is also plugged into the rack. This other printed circuit board may be interconnected to the battery module by wire traces within the rack. Thus, there are one or more first connectors between the first lead of the battery or group of batteries and the charger. There are one or more second connectors between the second lead of the battery or group of batteries and an input of the voltage measurement circuit.

  • Publication number: 20050039471
Abstract: A system and process for loading control software into the control panel of a liquid chiller system is provided. A PCMCIA card socket is installed on a circuit board of a liquid chiller control system and is in direct connection with microprocessor data and address buses. A linear flash PCMCIA card having new control software for the control panel is inserted into the PCMCIA card socket when the control panel is de-energized. The control software from the PCMCIA card is loaded into a flash memory of the control system by software executed directly from the PCMCIA card. The software in the PCMCIA card erases the flash memory of the control system, copies the control software from the PCMCIA card to the flash memory and then confirms that the copy of the control software was successful. After the control software has been copied, the control panel is de-energized, the PCMCIA card is removed and the chiller system is restarted and executes the new control software stored in the flash memory.

  • Publication number: 20050039730
Abstract: An EGR plate member configured of an EGR plate inner and outer is interposed between a cylinder head and an intake manifold, including an exhaust gas recirculation passage formed therein. The EGR plate member has a lower protruding portion to protrude outward beyond respective connecting faces thereof with the cylinder head and the intake manifold. A common passage portion of the exhaust gas recirculation passage is substantially formed at the protruding portion. Part of the common passage portion has its laterally-long cross section which is offset toward the cylinder head. The offset portion of the EGR plate member has its greater thickness than other part thereof, extending below an intake port flange portion. Accordingly, the exhaust gas can be cooled by an outside air, thereby reducing an improper heat influence on the intake manifold.

  • Publication number: 20050042564
Abstract: An ignition unit promotes the efficiency of assembly because connections on the high voltage output side and the ground side are completed by a single operation, when an ignition electrode part and a main unit are connected together directly. A guide rail of the main unit is insertion-engaged into a slit between clamp pieces of a bracket so that the main unit is mounted onto the bracket. With the insertion engagement, a high voltage output terminal receives therein a high voltage input terminal of a spark plug supported by the bracket, a plate terminal which is a part of the bracket is driven into a ground-side connection terminal, and a convex portion of a projected piece is engaged into an engagement hole, for positioning and slipping-off prevention.

  • Publication number: 20050042965
Abstract: A spark plug is provided after a provisional bending process, during which the earth electrode is provisionally bent at almost 90 degrees. The earth electrode, one of both ends is joined to a housing member, has first and second end-side surfaces located mutually back to back and a tip surface connecting both end-side surfaces. A noble metal chip is mounted on the first end-side surface. A bending punch is set, which has a first pressing surface to be fitted to the second end-side surface located and a second pressing surface to be fitted to a tip surface. The bending punch is first moved so that the second pressing surface comes in contact with the tip surface of the earth electrode, and then moved so that the first pressing surface presses the second end-side surface in the axial direction of the center electrode. Accordingly, a main bending process is performed.
