Abstract: The present invention provides for a plurality of partitioned ways of an associative cache. A pseudo-least recently used binary tree is provided, as is a way partition binary tree, and signals are derived from the way partition binary tree as a function of a mapped partition. Signals from the way partition binary tree and the pseudo-least recently used binary tree are combined. A cache line replacement signal is employable to select one way of a partition as a function of the pseudo-least recently used binary tree and the signals derived from the way partition binary tree.

  • Publication number: 20050055192
Abstract: In an emulated computing environment, a method is provided for logically decoupling the host operating system from the processor of the computer system with respect to certain processor settings of the processor. A hypervisor of the emulation program replaces some of the processor settings of the processor with processor settings associated with software routines or data structures provided by the guest operating system. The replaced processor settings are written to memory. During this period, when the processor calls a software routine or accesses a data structure associated with the replaced processor setting, the processor will call or access a software routine or access a data structure associated with the guest operating system, bypassing the host operating system and communicating directly with the guest operating system. When the host operating system is to be recoupled to the processor, the processor settings that have been saved to memory are rewritten to the appropriate registers of the processor.

  • Publication number: 20050052752
Abstract: The combiner 1 has a resin base 11 and a reflecting and polarizing member 12. The reflecting and polarizing member 12 is unitarily molded with the resin base 11 as an insert and has a polarizer plate 12A covered by a reflector film 12B. At a border B of the reflector member 12 with the resin base 11, a gradation printed layer 13a is provided. Preferably, the reflector film has an undercoat layer 12d, a reflecting coat layer 12e, an overcoat layer 12f, and a top coat layer 12g. The undercoat layer prevents the reflector film from being stripped out of the polarizer plate, and the reflector film has a predetermined reflectance. The reflecting coat layer is protected by the overcoat layer, and the top coat layer has a water repellency.

  • Publication number: 20050052475
Abstract: When run on high pixel density monitors, software applications, which are written to be legible at all resolutions benefit greatly from the high pixel density. Other applications, especially those containing resources whose dimensions and placement are described in terms of numbers of pixels (e.g., a bitmap, text), may have reduced legibility. A method is described which facilitates legibility of both classes of software applications when run on high pixel density monitors.

Abstract: A sigma-delta modulator includes a summing junction that receives an input signal. A plurality of integrators are arranged in series, the integrators output an integrated signal value to a multi-input quantizer. The multi-input quantizer has a plurality of comparators each with switched capacitor inputs. The multi-input quantizer outputs a quantized signal to a multi-bit feedback DAC that drives the summing junction.

  • Publication number: 20050053296
Abstract: In one aspect, for a first interlaced video frame in a video sequence, a decoder decodes a bitplane signaled at frame layer for the first interlaced video frame. The bitplane represents field/frame transform types for plural macroblocks of the first interlaced video frame. For a second interlaced video frame in the video sequence, for each of at least one but not all of plural macroblocks of the second interlaced video frame, the decoder processes a per macroblock field/frame transform type bit signaled at macroblock layer. An encoder performs corresponding encoding.

  • Publication number: 20050053295
Abstract: Techniques and tools for deriving chroma motion vectors for macroblocks of interlaced forward-predicted fields are described. For example, a video encoder or decoder determines a prevailing polarity among luma motion vectors for a macroblock. The encoder or decoder then determines a chroma motion vector for the macroblock based at least in part upon one or more of the luma motion vectors having the prevailing polarity.

  • Publication number: 20050054874
Abstract: The invention provides a process for producing and/or purifying acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and an ester of these, wherein high-boiling heavy ingredients (high-boiling matters) discharged from individual step units are classified by the content therein of (meth)acrylic acid and/or of the dimer thereof and treated. According to the invention, even when high-boiling matters which have been discharged from distillation columns, high-boiling-matter cracking reactors, and the like in a plant for producing (meth)acrylic acid and/or an ester thereof and are alike in liquid nature are mixed with each other in the same tank, no polymer precipitation occurs. The handling and storage thereof are hence easy. Consequently, tanks can be united into one, and the process is extremely advantageous in reducing the construction cost and the area necessary for equipment.

  • Publication number: 20050055453
Abstract: A method and system automatically converts a Wireless Internet Protocol (WAP) Client Provisioning (CP) objects to Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Device Management (DM) objects. WAP CP is enabled according to XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and defines a standard way to bootstrap mobile device's connectivity settings and application protocol access parameters using XML. OMA DM is also enabled according to XML and provides similar functionality, but is organized according to a mandated tree structure. The present invention automatically converts vendor specific parameters from WAP CP to OMA DM such that the vendor specific parameters are more easily managed by an OMA DM server and client.

  • Publication number: 20050055173
Abstract: Self-test architectures are provided to implement data column and row redundancy with a totally integrated self-test and repair capability in a Random Access Memory (RAM), either a Dynamic RAM (DRAM) or a Static Ram (SRAM), and are particularly applicable to compileable memories and to embedded RAM within microprocessor or logic chips. The invention uses two passes of self-test of a memory. The first pass of self-test determines the worst failing column, the column with the largest number of unique failing row addresses. After completion of the first pass of self-test, the spare column is allocated to replace the worst failing column. In the second pass of self-test, the BIST (Built In Self-Test) collects unique failing row addresses as it does today for memories with spare rows only. At the completion of the second pass of self-test, the spare rows are then allocated.

  • Patent number: 6857845
Abstract: A system and method is provided for detecting and controlling rotating stall in the diffuser region of a centrifugal compressor. The process begins with the detection or sensing of acoustic energy associated with the onset of rotating stall. A pressure transducer is placed in the gas flow path downstream of the impeller, preferably in the compressor discharge passage or the diffuser, to measure the sound or acoustic pressure phenomenon. Next, the signal from the pressure transducer is processed either using analog or digital techniques to determine the presence of rotating stall. Rotating stall is detected by comparing the detected energy amount, which detected energy amount is based on the measured acoustic pressure, with a predetermined threshold amount corresponding to the presence of rotating stall. Finally, an appropriate corrective action is taken to change the operation of the centrifugal compressor in response to the detection of rotating stall.

Abstract: A startup circuit is used for producing a startup current for an analog integrated circuit device. The startup circuit includes a first portion including a diode component and a capacitance component. The first portion is configured to function as a power supply backup and generate a backup point voltage. The startup circuit includes a second portion including a current mirror component and a feedback component. The second portion is configured to generate a startup current using the backup point voltage, such that the startup current is provided based on the backup point voltage as a power supply voltage increases from a power off condition or a transient, thereby keeping an analog circuit alive during transients in power supply for fast recover and operation.
