Abstract: Some embodiments provide methods, systems and apparatuses for use in managing playback of content. Some of these methods comprise: maintaining, at a playback device, a first media stream in a stand-by mode; continuing to acquire, from over a distributed network while in the stand-by mode, one or more index files of the first media stream, where the one or more index files identify a plurality of media files of the first media stream configured to be played back at the playback device, while not acquiring the media files of the first media stream while the first media stream is in the stand-by mode; and tracking the one or more index files relative to a playback timing f the first media stream while in the stand-by mode, where the playback timing continues to increment while the first media stream is in the stand-by mode.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for scanning a radio frequency spectrum for an available frequency band, selecting an available frequency band in the radio frequency spectrum even if the available frequency band is affected by radio frequency interference, measuring a signal strength in portions of the available frequency band, correlating the signal strength of each portion to generate a correlation factor, detecting radio frequency interference in the available frequency band according to the correlation factor, and generating tuning coefficient data to cause the filter apparatus to substantially suppress the radio frequency interference in the available frequency band. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract: Coacervate gels having excellent shear viscosities and other properties are made with anionic or cationic polymers, a smaller amount of a surfactant having a charge opposite that of the polymer, and a hydrophobic alcohol and an effective amount of a phosphorus-containing compound sufficient to increase the viscosity of coacervate gels up to 3 times as compared to the gels in the absence of the phosphorus-containing compound. The Zeta Potential of the gel is maintained at an absolute value of at least 20. Optional gel promoting additives include betaines and amine oxides. A preferred gel comprises poly diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, a lesser amount of sodium lauryl sulfonate, and lauryl alcohol. The gels are particularly useful in well drilling fluids and well fracturing fluids.
Abstract: A cosmetic treatment system is provided having ingredients that may prevent signs of aging, improve the aesthetic appearance of skin, and promote recovery from environmental stresses. The composition includes natural ingredients, including at least one ingredient or extract from rosemary; at least one ingredient or extract from Centella, Echinacea, Alpinia or mixtures thereof; a DNA repair enzyme; and at least one pharmaceutically or cosmetically acceptable vehicle. The treatment system may further include a patch for applying the cosmetic ingredients and/or a packaging system for holding the components of the cosmetic treatment system.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multi-layered design for an article of apparel such as swimwear. In particular, at least one layer may include a stretch resistant matrix made of a thermoplastic polymer, a silicone or other similar material to provide additional support and modesty to certain areas of the apparel, such as the bust area. Further, a method of manufacturing the article of apparel is also disclosed. According to aspects described herein, the layers may be integrated using techniques to increase the overall integrity of the apparel.
Abstract: A while-in-use electrical box cover is provided which comprises at least one integral splash guard that covers at least one cord exit aperture for a power cord which is plugged into an electrical outlet on which the WIU electrical box cover is mounted when the WIU cover is in the closed position.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a reversible shirt that may be worn in at least four different configurations. According to aspects described herein, a first torso element may be joined to a second torso element to create a pair of side seams, a pair of shoulder seams, a neck opening and a waist opening. The widths of the first torso element and the second torso element proximate the waist opening may differ to create curved side seams. The curved side seams allow for variation in drape against a wearer's torso.
Abstract: A method for treating hydrogen sulfide in a solution includes providing the solution containing hydrogen sulfide. The method also includes adding sodium nitrite to the solution in an amount suitable to react with the hydrogen sulfide and treat the hydrogen sulfide.
Abstract: Apparatus for separating a stack of sheets from a pile of sheet material that is arranged so that tear paths of a plurality of sheets form a tear surface includes a first clamp for clamping the pile at a first side of the tear surface and a second clamp for clamping the pile at a second side of the tear surface. At least the first clamp includes a sustaining member having at least one sustaining point for supporting the pile, and an upper member having at least one contact point for contacting the pile. Rotation of the first clamp relative to the second clamp brings about the separation of a stack of sheets from the pile of sheet material by breaking the tear paths present in the tear surface.
Abstract: A detection method for use in a primary unit of an inductive power transfer system, the primary unit being operable to transmit power wirelessly by electromagnetic induction to at least one secondary unit of the system located in proximity to the primary unit and/or to a foreign object located in said proximity, the method comprising: driving the primary unit so that in a driven state the magnitude of an electrical drive signal supplied to one or more primary coils of the primary unit changes from a first value to a second value; assessing the effect of such driving on an electrical characteristic of the primary unit; and detecting in dependence upon the assessed effect the presence of a said secondary unit and/or a foreign object located in proximity to said primary unit.

Abstract: The claimed method and system identifies faults and/or deterioration of components in a process control valve. The system may use different sensor combinations to provide the necessary data to compute irregular component integrity. Alerts may be generated to indicate potential component integrity problems. In particular, the system may detect potential deterioration and/or faults in actuator springs, pneumatic tubing and piping, and bellows seals. The claimed system may be communicatively coupled to a process control network to provide a more elaborate alarm system. Moreover, additional statistical methods may be used to refine the detection accuracy of the system.
Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for receiving a mitigation strategy for reducing interference caused by at least one narrow band interferer detected in a wide frequency band according to an average wideband power level, an adaptive threshold, or both, creating a message according to the mitigation strategy to transmit to at least one communication device transmitting wireless signals that are associated with the at least one narrow band interferer, and transmitting the mitigation message to the at least one communication device to cause the at least one communication device to adjust operations of a wireless transmitter of the at least one communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A skate shoe apparatus may be used with a skate (e.g., an ice skate, a traditional roller skate or an inline skate) to provide a walking surface for a skater resembling that of a shoe or boot. The skate shoe apparatus includes a channel to receive a lower travel surface of a skate and support members to provide support (e.g., lateral support) for the skate and distribute lateral forces produced by the skate across the skate shoe apparatus. Additionally, the skate shoe apparatus prevents damage to the travel surface of a skate and increased safety when a skater wearing the skate walks on non-skating surfaces (e.g., walking in ice skates from a dressing area to the ice or across a parking lot to an arena or walking in traditional roller skates or inline skates in a store or restaurant).

Abstract: A magnetic positioning system for use in inductive couplings. The magnetic positioning system having a magnet that provides sufficient magnetic force, but does not have enough electrical conductivity to overheat in the presence of the anticipated electromagnetic field. The magnet may be a bonded magnet or a shielded magnet. In another aspect a plurality of magnets are used to provide magnetic attraction forces and said magnetic repulsion forces that cooperate to align the inductive power supply and the remote device. In another aspect, a sensor allows differentiation between different positions of the remote device or inductive power supply. In another aspect, multiple magnets in the inductive power supply interact with multiple magnets in the remote device to position the remote device in different positions.
