Patents Assigned to A.C. Cossor & Son (Surgical) Limited
  • Patent number: 8652056
Abstract: A deflation control valve that automatically varies the rate of gas flow through said control valve to maintain a constant deflation rate during the deflation or exhaust of gas held in a closed pressurisable vessel to which said valve is connectable, wherein said control valve is manually adjustable to set the deflation rate.

  • Publication number: 20070276267
Abstract: A deflation control valve that automatically varies the rate of air flow through said control valve to provide a constant but adjustable rate of change of pressure during the deflation or exhaust of gas held in a closed pressurisable vessel to which said valve is connectable comprising a valve body having a passage communicatable with said pressurisable vessel, said valve body defining a valve chamber communicating with said passage in which a flexible diaphragm is provided partially or substantially closing said valve chamber, said diaphragm being in sealing abutment with a seat in said valve housing around the periphery of said diaphragm, and forming on the opposing side a part of an exhaust chamber, said diaphragm, in use, being, on the valve chamber side subject to the gas pressure in said pressurisable vessel and, on the opposing side, subject to the gas pressure in the exhaust chamber, which may be atmospheric pressure, and said diaphragm having an aperture or port extending therethrough, and said diaph

  • Patent number: 6575913
Abstract: A cuff member for a sphygmomanometer that has a manually rotatable spindle mounted in a housing. One end of an inflatable cuff is attached to and wound spirally on the spindle. The spiral-wound portion of the cuff in use remaining at least partially inflatable but provides the effect of a constriction at a position along its length dependent on the extent of the spiral wound portion. The inflatable cuff extends through an opening in the housing. An end unit is attached to the other end of the inflatable cuff. A releasable fastening member fastens the end unit to the housing. A desired effective length of cuff is withdrawn from the housing via the opening to extend in a loop around the upper arm of a patient. A ratchet cooperates with the spindle to allow withdrawal of the cuff from the housing when the spindle is manually rotated in one direction and to restrain withdrawal of the cuff from the housing for rotation of the spindle in the opposite direction.
