  • Patent number: 7870929
Abstract: An engine assembly, an acoustical liner and an associated fabrication method are provided to address fan blade flutter and fan noise control simultaneously within the same liner area. Fan blade flutter is therefore controlled without necessarily increasing the weight of the engine, impairing the structural integrity of the engine, or increasing the noise generated by the engine. The acoustical liner may have additional acoustical degrees of freedom which permit these seemingly competing concerns to be addressed in a complementary manner. The acoustical liner may include inner and outer barrels with the inner barrel having a perforated face sheet, a perforated back skin and a core disposed between the perforated face sheet and the back skin. The fluid communication between the core and the space between the inner and outer barrels provides additional acoustical degrees of freedom which may be utilized to reduce fan blade flutter while concurrently limiting fan blade noise.

  • Patent number: 7871336
Abstract: A golf club head is presented comprising a sole including a removable panel secured to the sole via a non-threaded attachment assembly. Further, the removable panel may have a large surface area relative to its thickness, resulting in a chip-like or wafer-like weight member. This design allows the mass of the removable panel to be spread substantially along the surface of the sole as opposed to in the interior of the club head. The golf club head may comprise more than one removable panel. A removable panel of the present invention may generally comprise one or more discrete areas of higher basis weight or higher density. Even further, the removable panel may generally be releasably attached via a quick disconnect mechanism that allows easy interchangeability.

  • Patent number: 7873443
Abstract: A system, methods, and user-friendly program product to optimize energy recovery or a process or cluster of processes under all possible process changes and stream-specific minimum temperature approach values without enumeration, are provided. The program product can utilize stream-specific minimum temperature approach values ?Tmini, where the superscript i represents the specific hot stream, as the optimization parameters instead of the single global ?Tmin currently used, in addition to identifying the optimal operating conditions. The program product can determine optimal global minimum energy utility values and define optimal process conditions and an optimal driving force distribution in heat recovery systems, and can produce an optimal Pareto-curve that shows the rigorous trade off between energy cost and capital cost for any energy recovery system.

  • Patent number: 7871669
Abstract: A method for producing a multilayer two-tone finish on a substrate such as an automobile or truck body or parts thereof. The method includes the steps of applying two different primers to a substrate, applying an accent color to a portion of the substrate and baking the applied coatings. The accent area is then masked and a main color is applied to the unmasked portion of the substrate. The mask is then removed from the accent color area, a clearcoat is applied to the applied main and accent colors and the substrate is baked to dry and cure the applied coating compositions. The clearcoat composition carbamate material, a curing agent and a hydroxy functional silane component.
