  • Patent number: 7580906
Abstract: A solution engine of a vendor's highly-automated adaptive computer support system for a remote customer automatically generates proposed solutions, e.g., sets of support documents, as a function of diagnostic data received from a customer's computer system. The automatically generated solution can be subject to expert review prior to publication to the customer, e.g., when the automated system assigns a low confidence level to the solution. In addition, expert review can be triggered by feedback from the customer once a proposed solution is communicated. The diagnostic data, solutions and feedback for an incident are packaged as a “case” and entered into a historical case database. A solution function updater updates the solution function as a function, at least in part, of the expert review and customer feedback.

  • Patent number: 7580957
Abstract: Structured data is stored into a structured data file, which is a text file. Index information is generated to speed up searching or updating of the structured data and stored into an index file, which is a binary file. When a general-purpose structured data processor on an external device side updated the content of the structured data file, a dedicated structured data processor detects that the structured data file has been updated and analyzes the updated structured data file. Subsequently, the dedicated structured data processor generates new index information relating to the structured data having the analyzed structured data file to update the index file using the new index information.

  • Patent number: 7578805
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a shieldable needle device. The shieldable needle device includes a housing, a needle cannula, a tip guard and an elongated flexibly resilient drive mechanism. The housing includes a longitudinal slot that extends along a wall of the housing. The drive mechanism is bent within the housing and includes a first end which extends through the longitudinal slot and a second end which is anchored to the tip guard. Upon movement of the first end along the longitudinal slot, the second end extends and moves the tip guard from a retracted position to an extended position thereby protectively surrounding a tip of the needle cannula.

  • Patent number: 7580910
Abstract: A text processing method is provided that includes the following steps. First, an abstract mathematical vector space is generated based on a collection of documents. Respective documents in the collection of documents have a representation in the abstract mathematical vector space and respective terms contained in the collection of documents have a representation in the abstract mathematical vector space. Then, the abstract mathematical vector space is perturbed to produce a perturbed abstract mathematical vector space that is stored in an electronic format accessible to a user. Perturbing the abstract mathematical vector space may include modifying the representation of a document with a newly computed representation for that document, or modifying the representation of a term with a newly computed representation for that term.

  • Patent number: 7579049
Abstract: A method is provided for enhancing corrosion resistance of a metal surface that includes the step of forming a sol-gel coating in which nanostructured zinc phosphate (Zn3(PO4)2) and zinc oxide (ZnO) phases are present in the mixture. The method may include the steps of mixing an organosilane, organometallic, organic acid, water, and alcohol, and allowing the components of the mixture to partially hydrolyze, followed by adding at least one component having zinc functionality and at least one component having phosphate functionality to the partially hydrolyzed mixture, wherein the zinc component and phosphate component are added in a molar ratio of from about 1.5:1 to about 5:1 (Zn:PO4). The resulting mixture can be applied as a coating to a metal surface to improve the corrosion resistance of the metal and to enhance the adhesion of resinous materials to the metal surface.

  • Patent number: 7580415
Abstract: A computer system has an aggregated plurality of hybrid network resources. The hybrid resources support both offloaded connections with a first set of clients and conventional connections with a second set of clients. The conventional and offloaded connections are established through a common physical connection to a network. A unique protocol address is assigned to each of two or more active ones of the resources. A virtual layer2 device is exported for each of the two or more active resources. The assigned protocol addresses are exposed to a protocol stack residing in the operating system of the computer system. Each of the assigned protocol addresses are exposed through and associated with the virtual device exported for the one of the active resources to which the protocol address is assigned. One or more of the conventional connections are established with the second set of clients through the active resources and their respective virtual devices.

  • Patent number: 7580235
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting information corresponding to circuit breakers and for controlling such circuit breakers are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system can include a menu-driven, pointer-accessible graphical user interface via which an operator can receive information corresponding to circuit breakers, and can automatically change the states of the circuit breakers. Menus of circuit breaker information can be organized by the state of the circuit breaker, the location of the circuit breaker, the bus to which the circuit breaker is coupled, the electrical system to which the circuit breaker belongs, and/or the system or subsystem of which the circuit breaker is a part. In further embodiments, the circuit breaker information can be organized according to custom-made arrangements.

  • Patent number: 7578484
Abstract: Link mechanisms for gapped rigid Krueger flaps, and associated methods and systems are disclosed. A system in accordance with one embodiment includes a deployable leading edge assembly that in turn includes a deployable leading edge panel having a generally fixed-shape flow surface, a bullnose coupled to the panel, and a link mechanism coupled to the panel and the bullnose to move the panel between a stowed position and a deployed position. The mechanism can include a first support link, a second support link, and first, second, and third positioning links. The positioning links can be pivotably connected among the leading edge panel, the bullnose, the first support link and the second support link so that the leading edge panel forms a gap with the airfoil when in the deployed position. The positioning links can be the only positioning links coupled between the support links, the leading edge panel, and the bullnose at a particular wing span location.
