  • Patent number: 6622176
Abstract: An interface device, for use in a data management system, interfaces between a plurality of application programs, each requiring a device dependent message to run a transaction, and a client device capable of requesting a transaction to be run. The interface device receives device independent messages, from a client device, each containing a keyword, and translates these into device dependent messages which are sent to application programs. The device dependent message returned from the application program is translated by the interface into a device independent message before being sent to the client device.

  • Patent number: 6621923
Abstract: A method that creates a high detail reproduction of an image that closely matches the color and tone of an existing photograph. Scanning the original negative of the image retrieves the image detail. Scanning an existing photograph of the image retrieves the color and tone information. The image detail information and the color and tone information are then combined to create a high detail reproduction of the image that closely matches the color and tone of the existing photograph.

  • Patent number: 6621268
Abstract: An article identification device 4 is mounted on a trap of which operation is diagnosed. The identification device 4 includes a memory 47 in which trap identification data is stored. When the identification device 4 receives an electromagnetic wave from a trap operation diagnosing device, a rectifier 46 derives DC power from the electromagnetic wave, which DC power drives the memory 47 and a modulator 48 so that an electromagnetic wave containing the trap identification data can be sent to the operation diagnosing device. The operation diagnosing device derives the trap identification data from the received electromagnetic wave to identify the trap whose operation the operation diagnosing device diagnoses.

  • Patent number: 6621282
Abstract: A method and system for probing with electrical test signals on an integrated circuit specimen using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) positioned for observing a surface of the specimen exposing electrically conductive terminals on the specimen. A carrier is provided for supporting the specimen in relation to the scanning electron microscope while a computer acquires an image identifying conductive path indicia of the surface of the specimen from the scanning electron microscope. A motorized manipulator remotely controlled by the computer manipulates a plurality of probes positionable on the surface of the specimen for conveying electrical test signals inside a vacuum chamber inner enclosure which houses the scanning electron microscope, the carrier, the motorized manipulator and the plurality of probes for analyzing the specimen in a vacuum. A feedthrough on the vacuum chamber couples electrical signals from the computer to the motorized manipulator and the plurality of probes.

  • Patent number: 6619286
Abstract: A regulator assembly is provided for use in a respirator system to supply a regulated flow of air to a respirator head piece. The respirator assembly comprises a housing (15) having an air inlet port (17) for connection to a source of air at comparatively high pressure, and an air outlet port (23) for connection to the respirator head piece. The housing (15) contains an air pressure-reduction stage (19) in communication with the inlet port (17), and a noise-reduction stage (21) between the pressure-reduction stage and the outlet port (23). The noise reduction stage (21) comprises two, spaced, muffler discs (41, 43) the first of which is positioned adjacent the air outlet (39) of the pressure-reduction stage (19). A deflector plate (47) deflects the airflow from the pressure-reduction stage (19) through the first muffler disc (41), and thereby diffuses the air flow before it reaches the second muffler disc (43).

  • Patent number: 6619589
Abstract: The present invention provides a temperature control system for an aircraft ventilation system that couples with existing aircraft upstream ventilation system architecture and downstream ventilation system architecture. The temperature control system includes an air duct arranged to receive a volume of ventilation air from the upstream ventilation system architecture and transfer the volume of air to the downstream ventilation system architecture. A heater is arranged to heat the ventilation air. A controller is arranged to control the heater responsive to a comparison of the actual temperature of the ventilation air to a desired range of temperatures. The controller maintains the actual ventilation air temperature within the predetermined range of temperatures such that formation of ice is minimized in the aircraft ventilation system. An exhaust shutoff valve between the air distribution system and the lavatory/galley ventilation system provides for ventilation in the event smoke is detected.

  • Patent number: 6622225
Abstract: A computer system includes a memory controller interfacing the processor to a memory system. The memory controller supports a memory system with a plurality of memory devices, with multiple memory banks in each memory device. The memory controller supports simultaneous memory accesses to different memory banks. Memory bank conflicts are avoided by examining each transaction before it is loaded in the memory transaction queue. On a first clock cycle, the new pending memory request is transferred from a pending request queue to a memory mapper. On the subsequent clock cycle, the memory mapper formats the pending memory request into separate signals identifying the DEVICE, BANK, ROW and COLUMN to be accessed by the pending transaction. In the next clock cycle, the DEVICE and BANK signals are compared with every entry in the memory transaction queue to determine if a bank conflict exists. If so, the new memory request is rejected and recycled to the pending request queue.
