  • Patent number: 6306247
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for preventing particle contamination in a plasma etch chamber equipped with a middle chamber by residual etchant gas is provided. In the apparatus, a bypass exhaust conduit is provided for connecting between a middle chamber cavity and a main chamber cavity such that when a pump means is turned on to evacuate the main chamber cavity, any residual etchant gas in the middle chamber cavity can be rapidly evacuated without the dancer of causing metal corrosion in the middle chamber cavity. Any chamber contamination caused by the metal corrosion can thus be avoided.

  • Patent number: 6308163
Abstract: A method and a system for providing resource management in workflow processing of an enterprise include a multi-level resource manager hierarchy. An upper level includes at least one resource manager having data that represents an enterprise-wide view of resource capabilities. A subordinate second level of resource managers provides partial views of the resource capabilities of the enterprise. These partial views may be based upon organizational or physical boundaries. At a lowermost level of resource managers are local resource managers (LRMs) that include data to track individual resources. Above this lowermost level, the resource managers in the hierarchy track the resources based upon types of resources. Thus, a second level resource manager is configured to be aware of availability of a resource type, but not the availability of an individual resource. Also above the lowermost level, the resource managers are configured to exchange requests for the resources using a number of different messages.

  • Patent number: 6307213
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel fuse structure and method for deleting redundant circuit elements on integrated circuits. This fuse structure is useful for increasing the repair yield on RAM chips by deleting defective rows of memory cells. The method involves forming a fuse area in a patterned electrically conducting layer also used to form interconnections. A relatively thin (0.4 um) insulating layer is deposited having a uniform thickness across the substrate. The next level of patterned interconnections is formed with a portion of the layer aligned over the fuse area to serve as an etch-stop layer. For example, the conducting layers can be the first and second poly-silicon layers on a RAM chip. The remaining multilevel of interconnections is then formed having a number of relatively thick interlevel dielectric (ILD) layers interposed which can have an accumulative large variation in thickness across the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6307970
Abstract: This disclosure provides a block-based compression system which uses a variable size search window, to thereby substantially reduce the time required for compression. In a MPEG-2 system, square tiles are processed left to right in rows, beginning at the top of a frame and finishing at the bottom. The absolute value of pixel differences for already-processed “northwest,” “north,” “northeast” and “west” neighbor tiles are separately summed and compared to a threshold. If any of the sums exceeds the threshold or if any of the neighbor tiles are unavailable (e.g., the tile under consideration is in the top row or the left-most column), then a maximum size search window is used to determine the tile's “closest match” in a prior image frame and the associated motion vector. If none of the exceed the threshold, then a relatively smaller size search window is used.
