Abstract: A tubular liner, for lining the inner wall of a pipe, comprises a plurality of composite liner tubes, each liner type contains an inner layer of a resin-absorbable sheet and an outer layer of hermetic plastic film. The composite liner tubes are joined by spirally stitched abutting ends. In an embodiment, the inner resin-absorbable sheets are joined. An adhesive can be applied to the inner and outer walls of the resin-absorbable sheet along the stitched spiral seam.
Abstract: A facsimile machine having a print head comprising: (1) a plurality of drop-emitter nozzles; (2) a body of ink associated with said nozzles; (3) drop selection means for selecting predetermined nozzles and generating a difference in meniscus position between ink in selected and non-selected nozzles; and (4) drop separating means for causing ink from selected nozzles to separate as drops from the body of ink, while allowing ink to be retained in non-selected nozzles. A customized magazine and information distribution system which uses a color facsimile machine as the information delivery system. Daily news and other updated information is matched against a customers information request profiles on a daily basis. This information is transmitted overnight to the customers facsimile machine, which uses a concurrent drop selection and drop separation drop on demand printing mechanism.
Abstract: A vibratory compactor includes front and rear frame portions driven by a first hydraulic motor and a vibration mechanism on at least one of the frame portions also driven by a second hydraulic motor. A first sensor on the vehicle senses movement of a member on said vehicle driven by said first hydraulic motor, and sends corresponding signals to a microcontroller on the vehicle. A timing device sends timing signals to the microcontroller, which is programmed to convert the movement signals and timing signals to indicate longitudinal speed of travel of the vehicle. The microcontroller automatically turns a vibration means on the vehicle on or off depending on the speed of the vehicle. A second sensor on the vehicle sends a signal to the microcontroller indicating a reverse direction of travel of the vehicle. The microcontroller automatically coincides the direction of motion of the vibration means with the direction of travel of the vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a developer for silver halide photographic products comprising a co-developing agent of the 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidinone type. These co-developing agents comprise solubilizing groups which are not attached directly to the phenyl ring or the pyrazolidine ring, and improve the stability of the developer composition.
Abstract: A foam is provided having utility for improving sweep efficiency in subterranean oil-bearing formations and having specific utility for conformance improvement treatments and mobility control in such formations. The foam is a gel medium having a gas dispersed therein. The gel medium is made up of a crosslinkable polymer, a crosslinking agent, a surfactant and a liquid solvent.
Abstract: Hydroxy-functional polyester oligomers are prepared by contacting a hydroxy-functional aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or a mixture of dicarboxylic acids containing hydroxy-functional aliphatic diacids, with a diglycidyl ether or diglycidyl ester in the presence of an onium catalyst in an ether solvent under conditions suitable for forming the oligomer. The oligomers can be used as hot melt adhesives, adhesive tackifiers, plasticizers, heat-curable adhesives and heat-curable coatings. Some of these materials are biodegradable and are therefore suitable for application to compostable end products.

Abstract: A process for the production of a ready-mixed setting-type joint compound includes the use of calcium sulfate hemihydrate, water, and a set-retarding agent. The retarder includes a polymer composition including acrylic acid and acrylamide monomer units, for example a copolymer (or a mixture of copolymers) of acrylic acid and acrylamide or a blend of a homopolymer of acrylic acid and a homopolymer of acrylamide. The joint compound can be combined with an accelerator including a metallic salt. The joint compound of the invention can be formulated either as a lightweight joint compound or as a conventional weight joint compound. The joint compounds provide short setting times, reduced shrinkage, reduced preparation time, and beneficial application properties.
Abstract: A process for making a resin extruded lineal profile structure is disclosed. The profile extends in an axial direction and has a plurality of continuous discrete fiber bundles radially spaced apart and extending longitudinally substantially along the entire length of the structure. Abstract: A vehicle user can request emergency or roadside assistance from a response center by activating a button in the vehicle. The global positioning system is used to continuously store the vehicle location. A cellular telephone network is used to contact a response center and transfer a data string via modem containing information to assist the response center in acting on the request. Predetermined information concerning system operation is stored in a non-volatile memory during an activation for diagnostic purposes. Data is written in two groups at respective times during an activation, and a status flag indicates whether both groups were successfully written to memory.

The plug assembly (26) includes separable upper and lower diverters (28, 30). Each diverter includes multiple subsections pivotably attached end-to-end. In one embodiment, first, second, and third subsections (90, 92, 94) are provided. Stationary ejectors (40, 42) located in the cowlings (18, 20) input ambient airflow (44) into an exhaust stream (32). Preferably the ejectors (40, 42) include mixing components (46). Upper and lower aft flaps (48, 50) further tailor the exhaust path shape. An actuation assembly (52) moves the diverters (28, 30) and aft flaps (48, 50) between their various positions. One actuation assembly embodiment includes a number of rotatable disks (118, 120, 132, 134, 142) for guiding the upper and lower diverters (28, 30) and the aft flaps (48, 50).

Abstract: A novel technique to treat post-consumer polyester for reuse in food-contact applications is described.
