Abstract: A method for circulating hot air in a solar desalination system includes providing a desalination structure having an air flow path defined between an external surface layer and an internal surface layer. A return flow conduit provides an internal fluid flow path. Saline water is pumped through a center column in a direction from the base towards the peak. The saline water is delivered through a nozzle that extends through a sidewall of the center column to provide a mist within the desalination structure exterior of the center column. An air flow within the air flow path is heated to form a hot air supply. The mist is heated with the hot air supply to form an evaporated fluid. A diverted portion of the hot air supply is delivered into the return flow conduit and mixed with an ambient air to form and heat the air flow.

Abstract: A graphical user interface, referred to herein as a virtual whiteboard, that provides both: (1) an automatically prioritized display of information related to a particular patient that is tailored to the current user of the system, and (2) a “scratch pad” area in which multiple users of the system may input free-form text and other data for sharing with other users of the system. When each user of the system accesses the virtual whiteboard, the system: (1) automatically prioritizes the patient information based on characteristics of the user and displays the automatically prioritized patient information to that user, and (2) displays the contents of the scratch pad to the user. As a result, the whiteboard displays both information that is tailored to the current user and information that is common to all users (i.e., not tailored to any particular user).
Abstract: An oil supply system and a method for operating the same to provide oil to a gas turbine engine in a variety of harsh operating conditions is provided. The oil supply system includes a main oil tank and an auxiliary oil tank which share oil through a tank sharing valve that may be closed if a depressurization event occurs in the main oil tank. The oil supply system further includes an auxiliary supply conduit and an auxiliary oil pump for providing oil to the gas turbine engine in the event of main oil tank depressurization or in negative gravity conditions where the oil within the auxiliary oil tank rises to the top of the tank and uncovers the oil pump supply.
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods related to interpolation are provided. An example apparatus includes a slope calculator to calculate a slope value based on a first value and a second value associated with a function. The apparatus further includes a compander to compand the slope value to provide a companded slope value having a smaller bit-width than the calculated slope value. The apparatus further includes a multiplier to multiply the companded slope value by a third value to provide a correction value. The apparatus further includes an adder to add the correction value to the first value or the second value to provide an interpolated value associated with the function. Companding the slope value can reduce a bit-width of the multiplier, and thus may reduce power consumption and/or area.

Abstract: Successful storing of extent operations into corresponding records of a transaction log results in acknowledgement of completion of the extent operations being indicated to one or more hosts. In response to determining that the extent operations are unrelated to each other, the extent operations are flushed in parallel from the transaction log to back-end non-volatile data storage. During the flushing, dependencies between the extent operations and other operations stored in the transaction log are maintained. Dependency chains are identified within the transaction log, and at least one tree data structure representing the dependencies between each of the extent operations and the other operations stored in the transaction log may be generated and traversed in order to select the correct operations stored in the transaction log to flush.
Abstract: Process for the production of methylidene malonates and cyanoacrylates employing in-situ formed iminium salts derived from acid halides and/or acid anhydrides and N,N,N?,N?-tetra hydrocarbyl diaminoalkanes, the acid halides and/or acid anhydrides being present in a molar excess relative to the diaminoalkanes, as co-reactants with select malonic acid esters and cyanoacetates, respectively.

Abstract: An available network address is acquired from a network address resource pool associated with the application system according to determination that a workload at a set of network ports of the application system meets a predetermined extension condition, the network address resource pool comprising network addresses configured to be assigned to the application system. A network port available at the application system is selected. A communication channel for accessing the application system is established based on the network address and the network port. According to determination that an access request for accessing the application system is received from an access device, the access request is responded to by using the communication channel. The communication channel provided by the application system to the access device can be dynamically adjusted in real time according to a workload related to data access of the application system.

Abstract: An ideal diode circuit is described which uses an NMOS transistor as a low-loss ideal diode. The control circuit for the transistor is referenced to the anode voltage and not to ground, so the control circuitry may be low voltage circuitry, even if the input voltage is very high, referenced to earth ground. A capacitor is clamped to about 10-20 V, referenced to the anode voltage. The clamped voltage powers a differential amplifier for the detecting if the anode voltage is greater than the cathode voltage. The capacitor is charged to the clamped voltage during normal operation of the ideal diode by controlling the conductivity of a second transistor coupled between the cathode and the capacitor, enabling the circuit to be used with a wide range of frequencies and voltages. All voltages applied to the differential amplifier are equal to or less than the clamped voltage.
