Abstract: A gear unit for the drive of a rotating tube is provided with a drive shaft and a power distributing gear unit stage that is configured as a spur gear unit with an intermediate shaft having mounted thereon two bevel gears. A power output combining gear unit stage with a take-off shaft is operated downstream of the gear unit step. In this connection, the take-off shaft is on the central axis of the driven rotating tube. The power output combining gear unit stage is comprised of two parallel operated planetary gear units each having a sun gear, planetary gears each disposed on a respective planetary axle, a hollow gear and a common satellite carrier that is configured as a single piece and connected with the take-off shaft. The planetary axles of both planetary gear units in the common satellite carrier are spaced from one another and offset from one another.

  • Patent number: 6305998
Abstract: A Marine drive mechanism has a twin-engine distribution transmission for driving a propeller-shaft train (12) supported on bearings (4). The drive mechanism (1) and the transmission (3), which is rigidly connected to it, being fastened to the bottom (6) of the hull. A pressure bearing (23) accommodates and transmits the thrust exerted by the propeller (5) by way of the propeller-shaft train. A coupling (3) engages and disengages the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism and the transmission are individually supported, the drive mechanism by resilient supports (9) and the transmission by resilient supports (14) and resilient bearings (13). The pressure bearing is built into the transmission. The transmission bearings (13) are integrated into a separate post (19) rigidly fastened to the bottom and are attached to the walls (11) of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 6232673
Abstract: A wind-power plant with a rotor. The rotor's hub is accommodated in a roller bearing. The roller bearing is mounted on a support and connected to a planetary gear. The planetary gear comprises two stages, specifically an input stage and an output stage. The planetary gear's output shaft is coupled by way of a clutch to a generator. The roller bearing (3) has an inner ring (7) that is attached to and can be detached from both the hub (1) and the rotating part of the planetary gear. The generator (11) has a housing that is combined with and can be removed from the planetary gear to constitute a drive-train module. The module rests on the rotor support (4) and can be dynamically separated from the overall plant.

  • Patent number: 6183317
Abstract: There is indicated a ship drive consisting of a drive engine and a propeller shaft which is directly connected therewith and provided with a propeller and the thrust of which is taken up by a thrust bearing. In addition, there is provided an auxiliary drive consisting of an electric engine which is to operate selectably as a generator or a motor and which is connected with a transmission by way of a clutch. In that case a gearwheel of the transmission surrounds the propeller intermediate shaft and is connected therewith by way of a flexible coupling. A play-free, releasable and mechanically positive connection is arranged between transmission and the drive engine, which has a flange at the drive side, on a thrust shaft and is combined with an auxiliary thrust bearing, which has forward and reverse pressure blocks and which is activatable in the case of auxiliary or emergency operation of the ship.

  • Patent number: 6033271
Abstract: A ship propulsion system in which the ship's propeller is connected with its propeller shaft directly to a drive mechanism. A thrust bearing in the drive mechanism receives directly the thrust of the propeller shaft. An auxiliary drive with an electrical machine is operable selectively as a motor or as a generator, and a coupling is provided between the electrical machine and transmission linkage in the auxiliary drive. A gear on the transmission surrounds the propeller shaft, and a flexible coupling connects the transmission to the propeller shaft. Mounted on a separate section of the propeller shaft between the transmission and the drive mechanism, is a shiftable coupling which is free of play and transmits torque from the drive mechanism to the propeller shaft as well as the thrust of the propeller shaft. An auxiliary thrust bearing is connected to the shiftable coupling and is actuated when the ship is in auxiliary or emergency operation during which the propeller shaft has a reduced thrust.
