  • Patent number: 5992265
Abstract: A built-up camshaft with a shaft body, on which separately produced cams are fixed, is described. In order to achieve that the individual cams can be made with the greatest accuracy and also with concave circumferential areas or running surfaces, and at the same time the shaft body can be balanced in a manner which is optimal from the viewpoint of vibration, a shaft body is provided, which is produced by casting, forging or the like. Except for the cams, all functional elements, such as sprocket mountings, axial bearings and position transmitters, can be formed in one piece on the shaft body during its manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5601648
Abstract: An apparatus for applying treating liquor to a traveling textile web having a vat containing treating liquor and a plurality of web guiding rolls submerged in the treating liquor and arranged in a substantially vertical sequence with adjacent rolls being in contact to form nips therebetween. The upper rolls are supported in the vat for resting under their own weight on the lower roll to apply pressure at the nips on the textile web. A drive motor drives at least one of the rolls with the other rolls being driven by surface contact with the drive roll for positive feed of the traveling web at a uniform surface speed through the treating liquor. Guide rolls guide the textile web to the vat at substantially the same surface speed as that of the plurality of rolls. A pair of driven squeeze rolls above the treating liquor form a nip through which the textile web is guided as it travels from the treating liquor, with squeeze rolls being driven at substantially the same surface speed as the guide rolls.

  • Patent number: 5353458
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for supporting a traveling web of knit fabric. The apparatus includes an uneven number of intermediate support rollers for supporting the knit fabric web as it travels between a padding device and a take up roll. The knit web fabric passes through a pair of squeeze rollers following pad dyeing thereof at the padding device and travels in trained relation in serpentine manner about the intermediate support rollers between the pair of squeeze rollers and the take up roll. In addition to supporting the knit fabric web to prevent undesired stretching or elongation of the still damp web as it travels from the padding device, the apparatus insures that the knit fabric web is disposed on the take up roll in such a manner that the edges, to the extent they are susceptible to curling, tend to curl in a radially inward direction with respect to the take up roll, whereby succeeding lengths of the knit fabric web taken up on the take up roll compress and straighten the curling edges.

  • Patent number: 5284035
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for monitoring the application of dye to a traveling web of textile material. The apparatus includes a color characteristic detecting assembly which is movable between an initial detecting position in which it detects a color characteristic of the textile material web shortly after the web has emerged from a dye liquor bath and a post-drying detecting position in which it detects a color characteristic of the textile material web after the web has been handled in a drying device. The post-drying detection of the textile material web enables the apparatus to detect an out-of-limits color characteristic situation which may not appear or be detectable until after the web has been subjected to the drying process. The color characteristic detecting assembly is connected to a control unit which controls the nip pressure of a pair of nip rollers which remove excess moisture from the textile material web.

  • Patent number: 5236080
Abstract: A bushing liner is provided for a bushing of an endless chain of a textile machine traveling web transport assembly of the type which supports a web in tension during transport of the web through a textile handling process such as, for example, a web drying process. The endless chain includes a plurality of links, each respective adjacent pair of the links being interconnected to one another by a pin and each pin being rotatably supported by a bushing mounted to one of the links. The bushing liner of the present invention is disposed intermediate a bushing and its associated pin and includes first and second circumferential ends normally angularly spaced from one another by a slot. The slot extends from one axial end to the other of the bushing liner and permits angular movement of the first and second circumferential ends toward and away from one another to thereby permit the bushing liner to accommodate internal and external forces exerted thereon.

  • Patent number: 5050258
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for controlling the distribution of color on a web of textile material in a textile dyeing process. The apparatus includes a color sensor for sensing a selected color characteristic of the textile web, such as, for example, the distribution of color, at a sensing location downstream of a nip device of a textile padding machine. The nip device removes excess dye liquor from the textile web to dispose the textile web at an initial moisture content as it exits the textile padding machine. The amount of the dye liquor removal through the nip operation is controlled in response to the color characteristic sensed by the color sensor so that the textile web is disposed at an initial moisture content upon exiting the textile padding machine which facilitates a desired color distribution when the textile web is subsequently dried.

  • Patent number: 4888860
Abstract: An apparatus and method for shrink treating both woven and knitted textile fabrics with essentially equal effectiveness provides a fabric-elevating intake device, a shrinking unit, a calendering device and a cuttling device in sequence for shrink treatment of woven fabrics in conventional fashion. Knitted fabrics bypass the fabric wetting device in the intake device and are wetted only lightly by a steaming cylinder provided at the intake side of the shrinking unit. An auxiliary fabric spreading device having driven rolls is also provided at the intake side of the shrinking unit to insure that knitted fabric is opened to a smooth full-width flat form. A small diameter drying cylinder is provided for partially drying knitted fabric without passage through the calendering device and a conveyor transports the knitted fabric in a relaxed condition to a winding mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4875942
Abstract: A method of cleaning residual dye material from rollers of a textile fabric drying oven during passage of a travelling cloth lead therethrough. The method involves applying a cleaning material to the travelling cloth lead in advance of the oven and rotating the rollers to be cleaned at a surface speed different from the surface speed of the cloth lead to cause a cleaning action of the cloth lead against the rollers. The change in roller speed can be accomplished progressively, either by acceleration or deceleration and can be accomplished on the rollers individually or in sets.

Abstract: Applying non-treating liquid to a traveling textile fabric substrate during temporary change-over discontinuance of treating liquor application in a textile treating and drying range with the non-treating liquid being applied in an amount sufficient to approximate the amount of treating liquor applied during normal operation of the range so as to allow the dryer to continue operating at substantially normal operating temperatures without damage to the fabric substrate. A non-treating liquid applicator is shifted between an inoperative position out of the path of the textile fabric substrate into an operative position in engagement with the substrate. The applicator includes a roller for arcuate engagement with the substrate and to which liquid is applied by spray and is uniformly distributed by a squeeze roll acting on a cover on the roller of material capable of retaining and transferring liquid onto the substrate.
