Patent number: 4362438Abstract: Equipment which extends from a floating structure towards the ocean floor therebelow is supported on the floating structure by a device which includes at least two hydraulic cylinders which are arranged between the floating structure and the equipment, the hydraulic cylinders being connected to a source of hydraulic pressure fluid, and a valve apparatus which is connected via a first conduit to each hydraulic cylinder on the piston rod side of its piston and via a second conduit to each hydraulic cylinder on the opposite side of its piston. The valve apparatus connects the first and second conduits for each hydraulic cylinder under normal conditions, but under deviant pressure conditions in one hydraulic cylinder breaks the connection between the first and second conduits of the other hydraulic cylinders and connects their first conduits with the first and second conduits of the deviant hydraulic cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1980Date of Patent: December 7, 1982Assignee: A/S Akers Mek. Patent number: 4316725Abstract: A method for deaerating liquids, especially water, where liquid is introduced into a vacuum zone containing liquid distributing means, and where said liquid after deaeration is conveyed out from said zone is improved in that said water in said vacuum zone is ejected toward at least one vertical impingement surface of a porous material, whereby foaming is counteracted, and is directed via said porous material toward an outlet from said vacuum zone. An apparatus for carrying out said method comprises a casing (1) connected with an evacuation system (16,17,18,19), means (8) for introducing a liquid, e.g. water, into said casing and an outlet (15) for discharging treated liquid, and is characterized in that at least one vertical impingement surface of a porous material (6,11) preventing foaming is provided within said casing (1) as well as means (9) being provided for applying a liquid on the porous surface (6,11).Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1980Date of Patent: February 23, 1982Assignee: A/S Akers Mek. Patent number: 4265567Abstract: The present invention relates to a riser device which extends from an underwater installation up to a structure situated near the water's surface, and which comprises at least three rigid, elongate members each having associated therewith at least one fluid flow line. The elongate members are interconnected by means of universal joints and have sufficient lengths that the total length of the riser device will exceed the distance between the underwater installation and the structure.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1978Date of Patent: May 5, 1981Assignee: A/S Akers Mek. Patent number: 4231870Abstract: A process for regeneration of a filter medium is provided according to which the filter medium is treated with a liquid which breaks down deposited organic materials on the filter medium. The preferred liquid for regeneration of the filter medium is concentrated sulphuric acid.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1979Date of Patent: November 4, 1980Assignee: A/S Akers Mek. Patent number: 4134702Abstract: An upper deck structure which contains the equipment necessary for operation of an oil rig is positioned on top of the main deck of the rig, the main deck being supported by vertical pilings or columns. The upper deck is not rigidly connected to the main deck but is held in place by frictional engagement therebetween. Such engagement can be enhanced by the placement of a rubber layer between the two decks. The oil rig is consequently made much lighter in weight and is easier to put together.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1977Date of Patent: January 16, 1979Assignee: A/S Akers Mek. Patent number: 4007782Abstract: A parking device for containing a blowout preventer aboard a floating drilling station. The parking device includes a parking frame which is capable of holding the blowout preventer with its center of gravity lying above the points at which the blowout preventer is supported on the parking frame. The blowout preventer can be moved as a unit back and forth between a parked position and an installed position for utilization on the drilling station. For enabling such movement a first drive mechanism is provided for raising and lowering the parking frame and additionally a second drive mechanism is provided for moving the parking frame sideways.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1975Date of Patent: February 15, 1977Assignees: Finn Tveten & Co.
