Patents Assigned to A/S N. Foss Electric
  • Patent number: 4613568
Abstract: A method and device is disclosed for the release and separation of substances such as parasites or parasite eggs from meat. In the method, meat is agitated with pepsin and filtered through a series of at least two filters, the last of which retains the parasites or parasite eggs. The device includes a reactor which tapers downwardly, and which has in its lower part an outlet valve connected via a conically widening part with a separator device. The separator device includes a cylindrical connecting piece which accepts holder rings for holding one or more filters or sieves in releasable connection.

  • Patent number: 4319491
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining at least one component of a sample of a particulate material, such as grain or seed, on the basis of a permittivity value of the sample. Before measuring the permittivity value the sample is compacted to a predetermined degree, preferably by vibrating the sample. Preferably, the sample is vibrated while being introduced into a sample container or receptacle in which the sample is exposed to an alternating electric field for determining said permittivity value.

  • Patent number: 4306454
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for metering a flow of a liquid, such as a milk flow in a milking system. The liquid is passed into a metering or measuring chamber from which it is discharged in portions having substantially the same mass or weight, and the total number of liquid portions discharged is counted whereafter the total mass or weight of the liquid flow may be calculated on the basis of that count. The discharge operation is controlled by a float member arranged within the metering chamber and containing a magnet which may actuate reed switches positioned at different levels along the metering chamber. Each liquid portion is discharged from the metering chamber by exposing the chamber to a gas pressure substantially exceeding the pressure at the discharge end of a metering chamber outlet. The metering chamber is preferably partly defined by a bell-shaped valve body controlling the metering chamber inlet and being movable to its closed position under the influence of said gas pressure.

  • Patent number: 4247773
Abstract: Fat in a fat-containing sample, in particular a milk sample, is determined quantitatively by infrared absorption technique, using as sample waveband a band characteristic to carbon-hydrogen bonds, instead of the conventional triglyceride carbonyl band. This avoids the dependency of the measured result on the fat composition of the sample. Influences from other components in the sample are compensated for. A preferred method uses double wavelength determination, with sample wavelength in the interval from 3.475 to 3.51 .mu.m and reference wavelength in the range between 3.51 and 3.60 .mu.m.

  • Patent number: 4242058
Abstract: A manually operatable dosage pump comprising a cylinder, a piston movable therein between two end positions, and inlet and outlet passages communicating with the cylinder space and each containing a one-way valve or check valve. The piston is adapted to interrupt communication between said inlet and outlet passages in at least one of the end positions of the piston. Thus, a valve member mounted on the piston may cooperate with valve seats formed in a valve chamber axially aligned with the cylinder space.

  • Patent number: 4236075
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring components of liquid samples, such as milk samples, based on the ability of these components to absorb infrared radiation at certain frequencies. A single radiation beam is directed through a cuvette containing the sample, and the apparatus comprises a plurality of pairs of optical filters. Each of these pairs is associated with a respective one of the components to be measured and comprises a component filter for passing infrared radiation at a narrow frequency band at which the radiation absorbing ability of the said component is relatively high, and a reference filter for passing infrared radiation at a different narrow frequency band at which the radiation absorbing ability of the component is lower.

  • Patent number: 4229180
Abstract: An antimonate, such as potassium antimonate, is used as the destruction catalyst in nitrogen determinations according to the Kjeldahl principle. Preferred catalyst comprises potassium antimonate together with potassium sulfate (for increasing the boiling point of the destruction mixture) and minor amounts of zinc sulfate and cupric sulfate (as co-catalysts).

  • Patent number: 4165033
Abstract: An identification system comprising a plurality of differently frequency coded markings including mechanical vibrating means, and a detector device for detecting the frequency or combination of frequencies of the vibrating means. The vibrating means of the various markings are preferably made from identical comb-like members having teeth which are vibratory with different natural frequencies and of the type used in small music boxes. The different frequency codes may then be obtained by removing teeth in different combinations from the members used in the various markings. The markings may, for example, be arranged on dairy cattle, and the identification system may then be used in connection with a milk sampling system.

  • Patent number: 3994688
Abstract: A test sample containing L-lysine in proteinaceous substances is reacted with a .gamma.-formyl-pyridine reagent of the general formula ##SPC1##Wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each aliphatic carbon groups having not more than 4 carbon atoms or forming with two adjacent carbon atoms in the pyridine ring aromatic rings, in order to form the corresponding Schiff base, and the amount of reacted pyridine reagent is determined.
