Abstract: The present invention relates to novel lamivudine/cyclodextrin complexes and processes for preparing said complexes. The present invention also relates to novel solid pharmaceutical compositions comprising lamivudine, wherein lamivudine is present in the form of said lamivudine/cyclodextrin complexes. The present invention further relates to processes for preparing said compositions.

Abstract: A hearing aid comprises at least one microphone (M) for converting input sound into an input signal, a subtraction node for subtracting a feedback cancellation signal from the input signal thereby generating a processor input signal, a hearing aid processor (G) for producing a processor output signal by applying an amplification gain to the processor input signal, a receiver (R) for converting the processor output signal into output sound, an adaptive feedback cancellation filter for adaptively deriving the feedback cancellation signal from the processor output signal by applying filter coefficients, calculation means for calculating the autocorrelation of a reference signal, and an adaptation means for adjusting the filter coefficients with an adaptation rate, wherein the adaptation rate is controlled in dependency of the autocorrelation of the reference signal.

Abstract: In a system for scheduling content items accessible to a receiver having a processor (120), at least one type of memory (150, 160, 170) bi-directionally connected to the processor (120), a data receiving block (110), an A/V block (130) for transmitting an output A/V signal, and external interfaces (140), the processor (120) comprises a schedule parameters module (121) for receiving and processing user's parameters input, a schedule search module (122) for searching local or remote schedule databases using parameters defined by the schedule parameters module (121) and a module (123) for adjusting and presenting content items to a user. These three modules (121, 122, 123) in another embodiment of the system can be separate modules placed outside the processor (120).

Abstract: An output CMOS buffer includes MOS enhancement transistors and has a second complementary pair of natural or low threshold transistors, connected respectively in parallel to transistors of opposite type of conductivity of the complementary pair of enhancement MOS transistors of the final buffer stage. The gate terminals of the pair of natural or low threshold transistors are controlled by respective inverters, each supplied through a slew rate limiter of the slope of the driving current and are respectively connected between the positive supply node of the output buffer and a negative (below ground potential) node and between the common ground node of the output buffer and a positive supply node. The negative voltage and the positive voltage on the nodes are at least equal to the absolute value of the threshold voltage of the natural or low threshold transistors.

Abstract: Process for improving the insulating capacity of expanded vinyl aromatic which comprises: 1) preparing beads of expandable vinyl aromatic polymers containing 1-10% by weight, calculated with respect to the polymer, of an expanding agent englobed in the polymeric matrix and 0.001-25% by weight, calculated with respect to the polymer (a), of an athermanous additive comprising carbon black homogeneously distributed in the polymeric matrix; 2) treating the surface of the beads, before deposition of the coating, with a liquid lubricating agent; and 3) thermally treating the beads with hot air at a temperature ranging from 30 to 60° C.

Abstract: The invention describes peptide analogues of a-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (a-MSH), which posses an increased efficacy compared to the native ?-MSH peptide. The ?-MSH analogues exhibit increased anti-inflammatory effects and increased capability to prevent ischemic conditions compared to ?-MSH. The invention further discloses use of the peptides for the manufacture of pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment or prophylaxis of a condition in the tissue of one or more organs of a mammal, and moreover pharmaceutical compositions.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for obtaining levofloxacin free from salts. In this process the starting product used is the compound (V), alkaline hydrolysis of which within a water-(C1-C4)alcohol mixture, and subsequent neutralisation and separation of the salts, leads to levofloxacin free from salts, without need to carry out any final step of extraction and without using halogenated solvents. One characteristic of the process described is that no extractions are necessary in the final step of the process.

Abstract: A chuck includes: a body attached to a rotating machine, carrying jaws; a peripheral nut fixedly attached to the body rotatably in a clamping direction; a ring that can be moved about the nut according to a limited angular amplitude, and having a considerable weight; and a spring connecting the nut and the ring. The nut includes a tooth interacting with a tooth of the ring to operate the ring in the clamping direction. When the body rotates in an unclamping direction, the ring, due to its inertia, does not follow the rotary movement of the nut. Then, when the machine stops and under the effect of the spring, impacts the tooth of the nut causing the jaws to clamp.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are nonwoven fabric composites comprising layers of spunbond and meltblown nonwoven webs. Such composites are prepared by forming or assembling the layers of the composite such that there is at least one outer layer of spunbond fibers disposed on at least one inner meltblown layer. The at least one outer layer comprises substantially parallel stripes of spunbond, continuous filament fibers with at least two different types of stripes being used. The stripes of fibers within the spunbond layer(s) are also predominately oriented in the machine direction of the nonwoven fabric composite. All layers of the fabric composites herein are bonded together via thermal, adhesive, ultra-sonic or mechanical bonding means. Such composites can be fashioned to vary the ratio of cross direction stretch to machine direction stretch.

Abstract: A new pozzolanic material basically conformed of microsilica with a minimum of silica of 85% in its composition is described, where the silica of the material is conformed mainly of cristobalite and tridimite. Unlike microsilica conformed basically of quartz, the microsilica of the invention exhibits greater pozzolanic indexes and provides improved characteristics of durability to concrete cements and in smaller proportions. Also simple and low consumption energy methods for obtaining the pozzolanic material of the invention are described.

Abstract: The present invention is related to fast acting single-chain insulin comprising a modified B-chain and the A-chain of human insulin or an analogue thereof connected by a connecting peptide wherein one or more of the amino acid residues in position B25, B26 or B27 in the human B-chain are Glu or Asp or are deleted and/or B28 is Glu, Asp, Lys or is deleted, and the amino acid residue in position B10 in the human insulin B-chain is Gln, Ala, Val, Thr or Ser.
