Abstract: This disclosure relates to an encapsulated filter unit, a system and a method of filtering fluids. The filter unit has a generally cylindrically shaped, membrane filter body with a plurality of filter elements. An anti-telescoping connecting element at each element end joins the filter elements end to end and coaxially to one another. The joined elements are housed by a relatively rigid outer shell. A filter head at each end of the unit enables connection of the units to one another while capping the unit ends. The shell comprises a barrier tube encased by a first helically wrapped layer of a first material, and each filter head includes an adapter encapsulated by a first hoop wrapped layer of a second material. The respective layers abut one another such that a continuous, generally uniform, relatively rigid composite outer wrapped layer is formed for effectively encasing the unit. The adapter has a slot located on an interior peripheral surface for receiving a sealing member.

Abstract: The manual control device for executing functions of an electronic watch (1) particularly a diary watch, includes a certain number of sensors (C1 to C7) wherein one touch sensitive pad of each sensor is placed for example on an internal face of the crystal (4). When a user's finger (20) is placed on the watch crystal in a determined zone of the sensitive pad of a sensor to be activated, it causes an electronic circuit (14) of the device to execute an instruction or a function. In a first mode selected by the electronic circuit, at least two sensors are grouped such that the electronic circuit executes the same operation when a finger is placed on the crystal in a determined zone of the sensitive pad of one sensor or the other. However, in a second mode selected by the electronic circuit, each sensor (C1 to C7) activated by the finger (20) provides measuring signals to the electronic circuit (14) for the execution of a different specific operation for each sensor.
Abstract: An analog input circuit may include a pair of differential transconductance input stages having input nodes connected in parallel and which are fed the analog input signal. One of the differential transconductance stages may have common mode compatibility toward the supply node at the highest potential, and the other stage may have common mode compatibility toward the supply node at the lowest potential. Furthermore, differential output currents of the transconductance input stages may be summed differentially on first and second input nodes of a differential converter stage, which converts the differential current signals to an amplified differential voltage output signal.

Abstract: A method is provided for producing chitosan-based films with enhanced cell-adhering capacity which comprises, in general, the formation of a chitosan-based film, the stabilization of the film and the activation of the cell adherence capacity by means of drying the stabilized and washed film. Additionally, the film may be biologically activated by means of fixing with a substance with biological activity. The films obtained have an increased cell adherence capacity, and, optionally, are biologically activated. These films may be used to induce a biological activity in a recipient organism, and/or for enhancing the osteointegration of implants of dental or traumatologic use and/or for regenerating osseous tissue.

Abstract: A semiconductor package is provided that includes an electrical connection and support means having a front face and a recess in the front face. The semiconductor package also includes a semiconductor component having a front face including a sensor and a rear face which presses on the bottom of the recess of the electrical connection and support means. Further included in the semiconductor package is a positioning and locking means for locking the semiconductor component onto the electrical connection and support means. The positioning and locking means is engaged in a space which separates the periphery of the semiconductor component from the periphery of the recess and keeps the semiconductor component pressed against the bottom of the recess. Thus, there is provided a semiconductor package having efficiently oriented components.

The connector for coupling panels comprises an insulating housing having a through hole therein through which connector terminals are fitted therein, flanges orthogonal to a direction of insertion and removal through the insulating housing and projected outwardly from at least one wall face of the insulating housing, comprising front and back faces, respectively, and a pair of retainer members having flexibility, fixedly attached to both side ends or both up-down ends of the insulating housing, respectively, wherein the retainer members are provided with a pair of retainer stepped parts, facing each other, and there is a gap for allowing fixture of the panel between the front and back faces of the respective flanges and the respective retainer stepped parts of the retainer members.
Abstract: A switched mode power supply device comprising a power transistor periodically set to conduction and supplying a regulated voltage that comprises a ramp generation circuit controlled by a clock signal and periodically generating a ramp voltage. The device includes an amplifier error circuit between a reference voltage and said regulated output voltage and generates an error signal, and a comparator comparing the ramp voltage with said error voltage and providing an output signal for controlling said power circuit. The circuit is characterized in that it comprises a delay element delaying the setting to conduction of the power transistor so as to desynchronize the starting of the ramp and said setting to conduction.
Abstract: The use of fatty acid oxidizing enzymes in the manufacture of paper materials, such as paper, linerboard, corrugated paperboard, tissue, towels, corrugated containers and boxes. Examples of fatty acid oxidizing enzymes are oxygenases classified as EC 1.13.11. including any of the sub-classes thereof, such as lipoxygenase, EC 1.13.11.12. The effect of these enzymes is that the deposition of pitch is reduced, and bleaching and de-inking effects are also observed on the paper pulp and the resulting paper material. The fatty acid oxidizing enzyme can be used in combination with a substrate, with proteases, lipases, xylanases, cutinases, oxidoreductases, cellulases, endoglucanases amylases, mannanases, steryl esterases, and/or cholesterol esterases; or with surfactants and other adjuvants.

Abstract: An encoding circuit transforms a picture signal into blocks of, for example, 8*8 coefficients, in which each block of coefficients is read motion- adaptively. In the case of motion within a sub-picture, the block of coefficients is read in such an order that the obtained series of coefficients includes, as it were, two interleaved sub-series. The first series starts with a dc component. In a first embodiment, the second series starts with the most relevant motion coefficient. In a second embodiment, two interlaced sub-fields are separately transformed and the second series also starts with a dc coefficient. As a result, the coefficients are transmitted as much as possible in their order of significance. This particularly produces the largest possible clusters of zero value coefficients. Such clusters are transmitted as one compact run-length code so that an effective bit rate reduction is achieved, also for moving pictures.

Abstract: The memory device of the invention outputs the read data in a time starting from the rising edge of the external clock that is shorter than that of other known devices, because the output buffer has an array of master-slave pairs of flip-flops synchronized by respective timing signals derived from the internal clock signal. The array receives data from the state machine through the second internal bus and provides the data to be output to the output stage of the buffer enabled by the state machine. A logic circuit generates timing signals for the master-slave flip-flops, respectively as logic NAND and logic AND of the internal clock signal and of an enabling signal of the output stage of the buffer generated by the state machine. Moreover, the memory device includes a circuit, synchronized by the internal clock signal, that introduces a delay of the enabling signal of the output stage of the buffer equivalent to a period of the internal clock signal.
