  • Patent number: 4098493
Abstract: An improved woven wire partition that includes a frame fabricated of at least one channel member, that channel member opening outwardly relative to the center of the frame. A woven wire panel is connected with the frame, wire ends of the woven wire panel passing through holes in the channel member's center web and being folded over that center web to maintain the woven wire panel in connected relation therewith. At least one novel U-shaped clip is mounted in the trough of the channel member by frictionally interposing the clip's base between a folded wire end and the channel member's center web. The U-shaped clip's legs are sized to extend beyond the side edges of the channel member, and are configured to be received in an interference fit relation with the sides of an outwardly opening channel member of an adjacent woven wire partition when the two channel members are bolted together in side edge-to-side edge relation.

  • Patent number: 4097727
Abstract: A card or badge is used for controlling access to facilities or facility areas which include remote card readers which are interconnected with a central card data processor. When access is requested at a remote location, a user inserts his card or badge into the remote terminal and the remote terminal sends data identifying the person to the central processor which, in turn, sends a command to the remote terminal to grant or deny access. When a card or badge is inserted into the system and no response is received within a predetermined time period, the remote terminal, on the assumption that communication line failure has occurred between the remote terminal and the central processor, reads a set of data from the user's card or badge to grant or deny facility access to the user on a secondary selection basis.

  • Patent number: 4095739
Abstract: A security system in which access at remote locations is limited to personnel inserting in the system a coded data card, the data of which compares favorably with data stored in a memory. The memory data comprises a table which permits access to selected terminals by selected personnel at selected times. Programming access to the system for the purpose of altering data in the access authorization table is limited to individuals who insert a supervisor's card into the system, which card enables the logic required for altering the authorization table.

  • Patent number: 4091872
Abstract: An adjustable dry pendent sprinkler for fire extinguishing sprinkler systems incorporates a heat fusible sprinkler head on an elongated telescopically adjustable device threadably engagable in a horizontal sprinkler main or the like and isolated therefrom by a frangible disc. The device contains a pair of telescopically engaged tubular members both of which are capable of longitudinal movement and one of which is held in a first position by the sprinkler head. A plurality of spheres are radially movable between oppositely disposed configurations of the tubular members so that fusing of the sprinkler head, opening the same, permits one of the tubular members to move into the area occupied by the sprinkler head thereby freeing the spheres to move radially and permit the other of the tubular members to be spring urged toward the frangible disc so as to cut the same and thereafter form a tubular passageway through the device for the delivery of fire extinguishing fluid therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4089153
Abstract: A capping machine turret has a number of circumferentially spaced screw-cap applying spindles with a cap engaging chuck at the lower end of each spindle. Each screw cap applying spindle of the capping machine is rotated by means which frictionally applies an accurately predetermined torque to the spindle and therefore to the cap engaging chuck at the lower end of the spindle. This is accomplished by providing a pair of pinions which are rotatably mounted on each spindle and are continuously rotated by drive means associated with the turret generally. Drive washers are provided at the outer radial faces of the two pinions and between the pinions and these drive washers have internal spline formations which interfit with external spline formations on the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4066808
Abstract: Labeling apparatus wherein a rotor rotatable about a vertical axis is provided with peripherally spaced suction pads for taking labels presented thereto in vertical positions, moving them by adhesive-applying rolls for application of adhesive thereto and then pressing them into engagement with the side surfaces of containers supported in vertical positions. The adhesive-applying rolls are supported in substantially vertical positions in tangential relation to the rotor and there are adjustably mounted doctor rolls supported in tangential engagement with the adhesive rolls. The surfaces of the adhesive-applying and doctor rolls have mutually interengaged ribs and grooves and adhesive is supplied to the upper ends of the doctor rolls in free flowing streams so as to flow downwardly over the lateral surfaces of the rolls to their lower ends. A tray at the lower ends provides for collecting the adhesive and returning it to a reservoir for reuse.
