Patent number: 10451593Abstract: A system and method for determining concentration of a constituent of a sample fluid includes a flow cell with a light source emitting incident light to a proximal end thereof. Media disposed within the flow cell supports nanostructures that are substantially transparent in at least a portion of the incident light spectrum. The nanostructures adsorb or absorb the constituent to attain a concentration that is a multiple of the concentration of the constituent in the sample fluid. A sensor detects transmitted light exiting from the media, and generates outputs corresponding to a spectrum of the transmitted light. A processor captures the sensor outputs and compares the incident light spectrum to the transmitted light spectrum to generate an absorbance spectrum. The absorbance spectrum is used to calculate the concentration in the nanostructures, which is then used with the predetermined multiple to calculate the sample concentration.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2017Date of Patent: October 22, 2019Assignee: AA Holdings, Ltd.Inventors: Yoav Barshad, Adam B. Thibault

Publication number: 20150041335Abstract: A system and method for compositional sample analysis includes a fluid sample handler having a sample pathway extending in a downstream direction from an input port to an output port, to transport a fluid sample therethrough. A sample conditioner is disposed within the sample pathway, to maintain the fluid sample within a predetermined temperature range. A fuel cell is disposed in serial fluid communication with said output port to receive the fluid sample, the fuel cell configured to use an oxidizer and the fluid sample to generate an electric potential corresponding to a concentration of a constituent of the fluid sample. A controller is communicably coupled to the fuel cell, and configured to capture and use the electric potential to calculate the concentration of the constituent.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2014Publication date: February 12, 2015Applicant: AA HOLDINGS, LTD.Inventors: Matt A. Patent number: 8490506Abstract: A probe mounted directly to a conduit conveying a process stream of gas to be analyzed, which can condition a continuous sample of the gas before it is analyzed by removing undesirable vapor components of the sample through interaction with a heat exchanger conduit which condenses these components into a liquid such that they precipitate under the force of gravity back into the process stream. The probe uses a Venturi device to motivate the gas through a flow cell chamber where it interacts with light shown through the chamber before ejecting the sample back into the process stream through a sample return conduit.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2010Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: AA Holdings, Ltd.Inventor: Daniel Murphy
