    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a laminated strip having a gas barrier material laminated in a liquid-tight manner between two external films includes the steps of forming surface irregularities in a first film, laminating a web gas barrier material to the first film, transversely cutting the gas barrier material and applying a second film over the gas barrier material. The apparatus for manufacturing the laminated strip includes a pair of cooperating rolls between which the first film is fed for forming irregularities in the first film. Two other cooperating rolls are provided for cutting the gas barrier member after it has been laminated to the first film. Two additional cooperating rolls are also provided for laminating the second film to the gas barrier material and the first film.

    Abstract: A method of attaching a gripping device to a packaging laminate involves forming a recess in a packaging laminate that extends only a part of the way through the thickness of the packaging laminate. Molten plastic material is injected into the recess to cause the molten plastic material to become partly united with plastic layers that cover the central carrier layer of the laminate, thereby forming an anchorage device in the laminate. The gripping device can be attached to the anchorage device after the injection molding process or simultaneously during the injection molding process.

    Abstract: Packing containers and packing container blanks of the type used for the packaging of, e.g., milk and juice, often are of the so-called gable-top type, in which the top closure also serves as an opening arrangment with a pouring spout which can be folded outwardly. The parts of the packing container or the blank forming the pouring spout may be partially coated with a seal-preventing substance to make it possible for the pouring spout to be detached and opened outwardly in spite of the heat-sealing of the top. The seal-preventing coating in accordance with the invention is covered by a film which extends along the upper edge region of the packing container to provide a better defined sealing strength, a tighter top seal, and protection to the coating both before and after the conversion of the packing container blank to packing containers.

    Abstract: Means acting upon the flow, such as pumps or valves are used inter alia in the handling of liquid foodstuffs, e.g. milk, in packing machines. Since the demands on hygiene in this context are very high, especially if the packing machine operates with foodstuff sterilized beforehand, it is a disadvantage that manoeuvering devices for the means acting upon the flow have to pass from the outside into the sterile flow path where the means is located. This is avoided in accordance with the invention in that the means (3) acting upon the flow is combined with an actuator (8) which can be acted upon electromagnetically by a stator (7) isolated from the flow path.

    Abstract: An apparatus for attaching drinking straws to a container includes a conveyor track for advancing containers and a rotating drum having a plurality of receiving areas located around its outer periphery for receiving the drinking straws. An applicator is provided for applying a bonding agent to the side wall of the containers. A device for transferring the drinking straws form the receiving areas on the drum to the side wall of the container after the bonding agent has been applied is also provided. After the drinking straws are attached to the side wall of the container, a device folds the drinking straws so that the drinking straw does not project beyond the edge of the container.

    Abstract: A readily openable and reclosable opening arrangement for use on a packing container comprises a pouring pipe attached to the outside of the packing container, wherein a slide is maneuverable within the pouring pipe by means of a projecting gripping element. When the slide is pushed to the open position the packing container wall is penetrated by ploughlike elements joined to the slide, so that the contents may be emptied out via the pouring pipe. The opening arrangement also may be used on packing containers which consist of several part containers whose contents may be emptied out through a joint pouring pipe.
