Abstract: A device for optically connecting an optical element, for example an end portion of an optical fibre (2), with a spherical lens (4), comprises a retainer (6) and a connector element (14). The retainer (6) fixes the optical element in a predeterment position in relation to an outer reference surface (8) of the retainer. The connector element (14) has at least one surface (18) for determining the position of the spherical lens (4) and at least one surface (16) for determining the position of the retainer (6) in relation to the spherical lens (4) and thereby for defining the relative position between the optical element (2) and the spherical lens (4). The surface (18) for determining the position of the spherical lens (4) is constituted by a conical surface (18) tapering in the direction of the optical element (2).
Abstract: In a method of optically connecting an end portion of an optical fibre with an other optical element the end portion of the optical fibre is connected with a lense. The connection is provided by fixing the lense in a connector element, the optical axis of the lense and the axis of a surface of revolution constituting a reference surface of the connector element being thereby provided in a coinciding position. The end portion of the optical fibre is fixed in a sleeve shaped element with the end portion of the fibre in a centered position in relation to a surface of revolution constituting a reference surface of the sleeve shaped element. The sleeve shaped element and the optical fibre fixed therein are then connected with the connector element while said reference surfaces are moved into engagement with each other. Thereby the lense and the end portion of the optical fibre are optically centered in a correct position in relation to each other. (FIG. 1).
Abstract: A connector device for connecting two electrically conductive contact members (16, 54) with each other comprises two releasably connectable connector members (2, 4), each of the connector members including one of the contact members, the connector device further having parts (20, 40, 42, 44, 58, 82, 84, 86) for sealingly enclosing the contact members (16, 54) in the connector members (2, 4), and a device (20, 22, 58, 26, 62, 30, 32, 34, 36, 64) for selectively establishing electrical contact between the contact members (16, 54) and breaking this contact after the connector members have been connected with each other.
