  • Patent number: 6995646
Abstract: A power or regulating transformer with voltage regulator includes regulating windings made of a flexible conductor having an electric field containing mechanism that forces the electric field due to the current in the winding to be contained within the flexible conductor. Since virtually no electric field is to be found outside the flexible conductor of the regulating winding, the regulating winding may be formed without having to consider the electric field distribution, thus providing for a transformer with a favorable regulating winding design.

  • Patent number: 6984962
Abstract: A device for control of a compensator connected to a polyphase electric transmission network for reactive electric power in dependence on a voltage sensed in the transmission network. A voltage controller, in dependence on the difference of a reference value for the voltage and its sensed value, forms a reference value for a reactive power flow through the compensator. A transformation element represents the sensed voltage as a voltage vector in a rotating two-phase system of coordinates and forms a compensation signal in dependence on a sensed change of the angular position of the voltage vector in the two-phase system of coordinates. A summation element forms the reference value for reactive power flow through the compensator in dependence on the compensation signal.

  • Patent number: 6937910
Abstract: A method for evaluating whether a measurable disturbance on a process controlled by a feedback controller is suitable for feed-forward control. The disturbance is measured. The controller output signal due to the disturbance is measured. A first reference signal corresponding to the controller output signal is measured when responding to disturbance entering before the process. A second reference signal corresponding to the controller output signal is generated when responding to a disturbance entering after the process. It is estimated where in the process the disturbance enters by comparing the measured controller output signal due to the disturbance with the reference signals. It is evaluated whether the disturbance is suitable for feed-forward control depending on where in the process the disturbance enters.

  • Patent number: 6935164
Abstract: In the present invention a refiner (108) of a mechanical pulping line is supplied with a controllable acoustic source (14), arranged for emitting acoustic signals into the pulp fluid. The controllable acoustic signal is allowed to interact with the fibres in the pulp, and the acoustic (pressure) signals resulting from such an interaction is measured. At least one spectral component is measured. The measured spectral component is used to predict properties, content and/or size of the fibres. These properties may then be used to control the refiner (108) process. The used acoustic signal has preferably a wavelength that is large compared with a typical site of the particles.
