Patent number: 6637564Abstract: A current detector can be fixed in an upright position or in a flat position on top of the surface of a support. The detector includes a housing which is provided with a first series of passages for fixing screws, whereby the axes thereof are perpendicular to a large surface of the housing for fixation on top of the surface of a support. The housing is provided with a second set of passages for fixing screws, whereby the axes thereof are perpendicular to those of the first set of passages for the screws which are provided for fixation of the housing in an upright position on the surface of the support. At least one, preferably two, auxiliary flange mounting elements are placed adjacent to the housing and are mounted thereon, being provided with a complimentary shape for the sole purpose of fixing the housing in an upright position on the surface of the support and wherein the second set of passages for the screws is formed.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2001Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: ABB ControlInventor: Armando Vilas-Boas

Patent number: 5934455Abstract: A manually operated switch device with small operating play and precise function for the control of electrical equipment which includes a switch housing which has stationary contacts adapted thereto, and a contact bridging element with moving contacts which is adapted to be movable. The switch is operated by means of an actuating member which is movable in the interior of the switch housing and which is capable of transferring, by a rotational motion of the actuating member, the moving contacts for engaging and disengaging with the stationary contacts, and by means of a transmission means for converting the rotational motion of the actuating member into an axial motion. Springs are adapted to cooperate with the transmission means for exerting a spring force onto said transmission means for engaging and disengaging said contacts by having at least two springs located at the opposite sides of the actuating member for exerting a symmetrical spring force on said actuating member and said transmission means.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 1998Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: ABB Control OyInventor: Valto Vuorinen

Patent number: 5920969Abstract: The present invention is related to a fixing assembly for use in, e.g., a switch device, said assembly comprising a female element (10) in the first piece (21) to be connected and a male element (12) in the second piece (18) to be connected. According to the invention, the male element (12) is elongated and elastic and has its end (14) provided with at least one locking surface (15), and the female element (10) comprises at least one locking shoulder (11) and a corresponding widening recess (19) of the female element passageway for the purpose of permitting the entry of a locking surface (15) of the end (14) of the male element (12) to the rear of the locking shoulder (11) into a locking position by way of a twisting/untwisting motion.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1998Date of Patent: July 13, 1999Assignee: ABB Control OYInventor: Valto Vuorinen

Patent number: 5894174Abstract: The present invention relates to protection circuit and method for the EMI/RFI suppression system (2) of such a five-conductor electrical system in which the neutral conductor (N) is provided with a bandstop-type filter circuit (2) for the suppression of a harmonic interference current component. According to the invention, on the neutral conductor (N) is placed a current transformer (CT) having over its secondary a resistive branch (R.sub.1), and in parallel therewith, a filter branch (5) comprising a bandpass filter (LC) tuned to the fundamental frequency of said neutral-conductor filter circuit (2) and said filter branch (5) having in series with said bandpass filter branch (LC) a switch element (4) suitable for short-circuiting said neutral-conductor filter circuit (2) when current in said filter branch (5) exceeds a preset upper limit level.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1997Date of Patent: April 13, 1999Assignee: ABB Control DYInventor: Esko Kiiskinen

Patent number: 5736698Abstract: A manually operated switch device for the control of electrical equipment, wherein the electrical elements of the switch are assembled in a housing and the mechanical elements are mounted on a body piece attached to the housing. At least one linearly transferrable slide member communicates with the body piece, the slide member having contact or guide surfaces adapted to cooperate with the stationary contacts. To the slide member is connected via at least one spring-type element, a power-spring-arming plate which is movable in parallel relationship with the slide member, in such a manner that during the movement of the power-spring-arming plate, the slide member is correspondingly moved under the force exerted by the power springs. By virtue of this arrangement, the switching phase always occurs in a consistent manner, irrespective of the speed used for rotating the switch operating lever.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1996Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: ABB Control OyInventors: Harri Mattlar, Matti Pussinen
