Abstract: A plug for ease of alignment of a temperature probe or sensor inside a duct of a transformer winding is provided. The plug is shaped for secure placement into a duct or passage of a transformer winding without requiring any adhering material. The insertion of the plug into the duct or passage brings the temperature probe into contact with the desired point along the transformer winding being thermally monitored.

Abstract: A cross-direction feedback controller, profiler system and actuator setpoint controller are provided in communication with a plurality of actuators in a machine of a web-forming process, and with a local region detector that determines an actual profile response of a product of the web-forming process in response to consecutively bumping each of the actuators. A relationship between generated profile response data and an actuator setpoint change in the generated profile response data is represent by a profile-to-actuator general interaction matrix, which is expanded into linear equations that describe impacts of bumped actuators on different profile points of generated profile response data. The linear equations are rearranged into a bump-magnitude matrix as a function of a desired response model vector. A least-square solution is found for the bump-magnitude matrix, convolved with a window function and then optimized to minimize error between an actual and a modeled profile response.
Abstract: A four port scanning Michelson interferometer suppresses self-emission by using either a beamsplitter that is uncoated or a beamsplitter that has reflection enhancing dielectric coatings in the splitting and combining areas of the substrate on opposite sides of the substrate. Both beamsplitters are fabricated from infrared optical materials that have a predetermined absorptivity in a predetermined wavelength interval which is from 2 ?m (5000 cm?1) to 13 ?m (770 cm?1) in the infrared. The optical materials of the uncoated beamsplitter are selected from a group of materials made up of ZnSe, ZnS, CdS, CdTe, Silicon, Germanium or Diamond. The optical materials of the other beamsplitter are selected from a group of materials made up of KBr, KCl, NaCl, CsI, BaF, CaF and the like.
Abstract: A voltage measuring device includes an input configured to be coupled to a secondary of an inductive coupling of a DC to DC voltage converter. A switch coupled to the input forms a discharge path parallel to a sampling capacitor dependent on the voltage at the input equaling or exceeding a first voltage threshold and independent of an output voltage at the output of the device. The sampling capacitor is coupled to the output. A rectifier in series with the sampling capacitor is biased to conduct upon the input voltage, minus the output voltage, equaling or exceeding a second voltage.

A carrier for a workpiece includes a base, a column extending vertically from the base, and a lifting assembly carried by the column that is movable with respect to the column and adapted to carry a workpiece. The carrier may be detachably secured to the guide pin assembly so as to allow controlled movement of the workpiece along the platform surface.
Abstract: A method and system to optimize the parameters of a robot used in an assembly process. The assembly process is categorized based on its nature which may be cylindrical, radial and multi-stage insertion. The search pattern and search parameters are specified. The parameters are optimized and the optimized parameter set are verified and when a predetermined criteria such as assembly cycle time set and/or success rate is met the optimization process stops. When the optimization stops the verified parameters are used to cause the robot to perform the categorized assembly process. If the parameters do not meet the predetermined criteria, another round of optimization using the same or other parameters can be performed.

Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatuses of establishing an IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) VPN (Virtual Private Network) tunnel are disclosed. One method includes receiving, by a wireless mesh network access point, a user configuration, wherein the user configuration includes a type of traffic, determining an internal interface of the wireless mesh network access node based on the type of traffic, dynamically determining a local endpoint address for the IPsec VPN tunnel based on the selected internal interface, establishing the IPsec VPN tunnel through the selected internal interface of the wireless mesh network access node, and encapsulating non-IP packets of non-IP traffic within IP packets.
Abstract: A method and system for applying a liner material to a contoured surface, such as an exposed rock face in an underground hard rock mine, is disclosed. Locations of a plurality of spatially distributed surface grid points on the contoured surface may be detected so as to generate a representative topographical profile of the contoured surface. Based on the plurality of surface grid points, a spray path for a liner application device configured to emit a spray of the liner material may be determined. In some cases, the spray path may have a trajectory that follows the topographical profile of the contoured surface offset therefrom within a spray range of the liner application device. Liner material may then be sprayed onto the contoured surface while controlling the liner application device to undertake at least one pass of the spray path.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of a mobile node selecting a transmission channel of a mesh network is disclosed. The method includes the mobile node detecting a quality of routing beacons received over a previously selected transmission channel. If the quality of the routing beacons is below a predetermined threshold, then the mobile node transmits probe requests on each of a plurality of available transmission channels. Responses to the probe request are collected from at least one upstream access nodes over at least one of the available transmission channels. A new transmission channel is selected based upon the responses received over the available transmission channels.
