Abstract: The present invention comprises a method of erecting an elevator system for a building comprising fabricating an elongate elevator shaft framework section, and mounting the framework section in an upright position at the building site. After construction of at least a part of the building, an upper portion of the framework section is secured to the building. An elevator car and elevator accoutrements may be installed in or on the framework section prior to mounting thereof and/or prior to construction of the building and securing of the upper part of the framework section thereto.
