Abstract: Aqueous polymer composition for application to synthetic polymeric materials to improve wettability of same by polymer matrices and bond strength therebetween, which includes a polymer containing vinyl groups, in at least one and preferably two fluorocarbon surfactants and water. The composition also optionally, and preferably includes a copolymerizable surfactant and ethoxy silicone. Synthetic polymeric materials treated with the aqueous polymer composition are disclosed primarily as reinforcing materials in structural composites, either alone or in conjunction with other reinforcing materials. Composites utilizing the pretreated reinforcing materials are also included.
Abstract: Organic peroxide compositions that are available as sprayable dispersions, pourable dispersions, thick pastes and free flowing powder form, all of which may be characterized as slow burning and nonexplosive. Benzoyl peroxide compositions are preferred and may contain up to about 70 weight percent peroxide while viscosity of dispersions of same may be as low as about 100 centipoises when measured with a brookfield RVT viscometer using a number 3 spindle at 50 rpm. Dispersions are produced in low shear, impact-attrition type dispersion mills, exemplified by a Kady Mill.
Abstract: A dry textile warp size composition for use in the sizing of yarns containing natural fibrous materials, synthetic fibrous materials, or blends of same including a polyester in particulate form, a film former, and optionally a lubricant and other minor additives. The polyester is preferably rendered into particulate form by grinding at reduced temperature, includes anionic hydrophilic groups and is at least substantially saturated. A process for producing the size composition is also disclosed and claimed.
