Patent number: 5405215Abstract: A mobile paving machine which may, with minor modification, be employed either to distribute material along the path of movement of the machine or in a region which is laterally offset to one side of the motion path. In order to spread material in a laterally offset region, which may correspond to a break-down lane being formed along the side of a travel lane, a tiltable secondary skip is installed above the primary skip to which paving material is normally supplied. A scraper is mounted from an extension of the distribution beam of the machine to controllably disperse material discharged through an end of the secondary skip when the loaded secondary skip is angularly inclined to cause gravity induced flow of material into the lateral region.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1993Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Assignee: ABG-Werke GmbHInventor: Dieter Lutz

Patent number: 5135332Abstract: A grooving depth indicator for a highway grooving or milling machine comprises a display device which is coupled by means of a cable to a mechanism which is employed to adjust the cutting depth of the machine. The display device includes an indicator scale which rotates relative to a zero marker, the scale being caused to rotate by a shaft on which a pulley is mounted. The coupling cable, which is maintained under tension by a spring bias, engages the pulley.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1990Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: ABG-Werke GmbHInventors: Helmut Hellwig, Bernd Lemke

Patent number: 4969773Abstract: The invention relates to a laying plank for a road finishing machine, comprising a basic plank (1) which exhibits two central upright cheeks (2), on which an extension cylinder (3) is arranged on each side which is guided by an inner cheek (8) of an extensible plank (4) for the lateral prolongation of the basic plank (1) and engages its outer cheek (5) for extending, at least one guide rods (7) parallel to the cylinder axis being provided respectively between inner and outer cheeks (5, 8), which is guided by an outer cheek (9) located on the basic plank (1). In order that the basic plank (1) can be enlarged virtually to double width by the extensible planks, it is provided that the cheek (9) located on the basic plank (1) is constructed as a sliding block slidable relative to the basic plank (1) along a guide means (13) connected to the latter, the extending cylinder (3) being connected to the sliding block (9 ) and slidable.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1989Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Assignee: ABG-Werke GmbHInventor: Dirk Heims

Patent number: 4836564Abstract: A road-finishing machine provided with a level-compensation arrangement. A directional wheel installed on each side of a frame includes an axle to which a vertical pin is attached. The pin is slidably and rotatably accomodated with a cylinder housing having a hydraulic fluid-filled chamber therein into which the top of the pin, shaped like a piston head, is placed. Veertical motion of the wheel and corresponding motion of the pin cause hydraulic fluid to be expelled from or drawn into the chamber. The chambers of the wheels on opposite sides of the frame are in communication with each other. Consequently, as one wheel rises, the other is forced downward by the compensating hydraulic fluid, and vice-versa, to attain a level compensation effect.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: ABG Werke GmbHInventor: Dirk Heims

Patent number: 4793434Abstract: A road finishing machine comprising a diesel-hydraulically driven set of main wheels and at least one set of steerable wheels. An additional hydraulic companent is provided which transfers a driving force to the steerable wheels, and the peripheral speed of the steerable wheels is automatically adapted to that of the main wheels.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: ABG-Werke GmbHInventor: Hans-Dieter Bachle
