Abstract: A fishing reel of the multiplier type has a frame with two detachable, inner side plates, each having a through opening, and two detachable outer side plates. A line spool is rotatably mounted in the frame between the two inner side plates and has, in the vicinity of each of its ends, a circumferential, substantially radial end flange. The line spool is nonrotatably mounted on a shaft, which extends freely through the openings in the two inner side plates. Each inner side plate has a circumferential, axially inwardly directed flange surrounding the respective end flange of the line spool, and an axially directed first sleeve element coaxial with the line spool. At each end, the line spool has a protruding second sleeve element which is coaxial with the line spool and rotatably mounted in the first sleeve element of the corresponding inner side plate by a ball bearing.

Abstract: A bail mechanism in an open-face fishing reel of the fixed-spool type having a rotor and a line spool which is coaxial with the rotor and oscillates in the axial direction, has a bail for winding a line onto the line spool. By way of two mounting elements, the bail is mounted on two attachments which are arranged diametrically opposite each other on the rotor. The bail is pivotable about a bail axis perpendicular to the axis of the rotor, between a folded-in line-winding position and a folded-out position, in which it is released of the line. One attachment forms a chamber, in which a compression spring is placed. The compression spring is connected to a pivot pin on the mounting element associated with this one attachment in order to press this mounting element towards a first and a second rotational position corresponding, respectively, to the line-winding position and the folded-out position of the bail when the pivot pin is located on one and the other side, respectively, of an over-center point.

Abstract: A line spool assembly to be mounted on a spindle in an open-face fishing reel of the fixed-spool type has a hollow shaft non-rotatably mountable on the spindle, and a line spool rotatably mounted on the shaft. The line spool has an inner sleeve member rotatably mounted on the shaft, and an outer sleeve member for receiving a fishing line wound thereon, the outer sleeve member being non-rotatably mounted on the inner sleeve member and, by a releasable locking element, axially fixed thereto. A line spool drag acting between the shaft and the inner sleeve member for braking the rotation thereof around the shaft. The outer sleeve member is, when the locking element is released, axially removable from the inner sleeve member so as to be separated from the rest of the line spool assembly.

A clutch member having a gear portion and an engaging portion is mounted on the shaft. The gear portion meshes with a driving gear which is rotatable by a handle. The clutch member is displaceable along the shaft between an engaging position, in which its engaging portion is connected to the line spool for rotation thereof, and a disengaging position, in which the engaging portion is disconnected from the line spool. The clutch member is displaceable back and forth between its engaging position and its disengaging position by a trigger which actuates a clutch mechanism for displacement of the clutch member.

Abstract: An open-face fishing reel of the fixed-spool type comprises a housing, a rotor shaft, which is rotatably mounted in the housing and supports a rotor non-rotatably connected therewith, and a free-wheeling hub mechanism. The free-wheeling hub mechanism has an outer ring which is fixedly connected to the housing, an inner ring which is non-rotatably mounted on the rotor shaft and located inside the outer ring, and an annular roll holder which is placed in an annular gap between the two rings and by resilient shafts, supports the rolls. The rolls are rotatable about the shafts and held by these in resilient abutment against the inner ring. The roll holder is, within narrow limits, turnable between a first turning position, in which the rolls are clamped between the inner ring and ramp surfaces of the outer ring, thereby preventing rotation of the rotor in one direction, and a second turning position, in which the rolls are released and abut against the inner ring only to be rotated thereby.

Abstract: A line spool assembly for mounting on a spindle in an open-face fishing reel of the fixed-spool type comprises a hollow shaft non-rotatably mountable on the spindle and having a front portion, a rear portion and an externally threaded intermediate portion, and a line spool rotatably mounted on the shaft. A line spool drag for adjustable braking of the rotation of the line spool around the shaft has at least two drag washers, one of which is non-rotatably connected to the shaft and the other is non-rotatably connected to the line spool and which are in rotation-impeding frictional engagement with each other. An adjusting knob for adjusting the braking effect of the line spool drag is rotatably mounted on the rear portion of the shaft behind the line spool.
