    Abstract: A composition and a method to improve the exploit of oil from a hydrocarbon containing formation are disclosed. The method is characterized in that a aqueous composition including extract of a plant is injected into the formation to reduce the interfacial tension between the oil trapped in the formation and water, and the oil in said aqueous mixture is recovered for further use. Preferably, the aqueous mixture injected comprises an interfacial tension reducing composition made from a plant extract based on a plant family to which the plants Ziziphus Spina Christi and Aloe Vera belong. In particular the injection mixture also comprises at least one of the following constituents: fructose, sucrose, maltose, proteins, lipids and saponins.

    Abstract: There is provided a hybrid turbine system comprising a plurality of flexible and thin film photovoltaic modules or panels attached to a plurality of blades of a vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) for energy generation. Electrical performance of rotating photovoltaic modules or panels is enhanced since rotating photovoltaic modules are self-cooled by rotation of the blades of the wind turbine. It is experimentally shown that voltage of the photovoltaic modules decreases when the photovoltaic modules' temperature increases, and this decrease was modelled by four parameters namely ideality factor, reverse saturation current, short-circuit current, and material band gap. The present invention evidences that the proposed rotating photovoltaic modules increases the output voltage of the photovoltaic modules.

    Abstract: There is provided a post processing technique or method for separation algorithms to separate vocals from monaural music recordings. The method comprises detecting traces of pitched instruments in a magnitude spectrum of a separated voice using Hough transform and removing the detected traces of pitched instruments using median filtering to improve the quality of the separated voice and to form a new separated music signal. The method further comprises applying adaptive median filtering techniques to remove the identified Hough regions from the vocal spectrogram producing separated pitched instruments harmonics and new vocals while adding the separated pitched instruments harmonics to a music signal separated using any separation algorithm to form the new separated music signal.
