    Abstract: A newborn support device for supporting a newborn in close proximity to the mother is provided. The newborn support device has a support platform for receiving thereon the newborn in an almost fully supported manner. The platform is provided with an elongated slit which is accessible from a side of the platform and extends through the platform from the top surface to a bottom surface of the platform. The slit enables resuscitation of the newborn on the platform with delayed cord clamping. In another aspect the invention relates to a resuscitation device having resuscitation means connected to such a support device.
