  • Patent number: 7427918
Abstract: A cargo security sensing system includes a smart container having a sensor, wherein the smart container is a standard shipping cargo container that includes the sensor. The sensor may be any suitable type of sensing device capable of sensing changes in environmental conditions. The sensing system includes a plurality of dumb containers in corresponding relation to the smart container, wherein, the dumb container may be any suitable shipment container, including the same type of cargo shipment container or other type, as the smart container, excluding the sensor. The system for cargo security provides for the smart container to detect an event occurring with respect to either the smart container itself and/or the nearby dumb containers. An event may be an occurrence detected by the sensor, such that the smart container may notify of any potential security breaches in any of the containers.

  • Patent number: 7401054
Abstract: A content bank for objects hosts all information regarding an object and serves as a proxy for that object. The content bank comprises at least one instance of a digital identity corresponding the object. Object identity modules or services are available through the digital identity instance. Via the content bank system, the digital identity instance receives object-related information from a source and targeted to a specific service. Conversely, the digital identity instance also serves to determine when object-related information should be provided to a third party by a given service, or when object-related information needs to be manipulated by one or more services. A multi-mode interface is available for third parties to communicate with the digital identity instance. In this manner, third parties are not only able to access data regarding an object, but are actually able to communicate with an object via the digital identity instance.

  • Patent number: 7296226
Abstract: A design pattern for a software architecture includes a business services layer comprising ApiService class, BusinessService class, Message class and Field class. ApiService class accepts a request that includes request parameters and utilizes corresponding instances of Message class and Field class to translate the request to an input message. The instances of Message and Field class contain the request parameters in self-describing form, namely, field names and associated values. The input message is forwarded to the appropriate subclass of BusinessService class by ApiService class. The subclass of BusinessService class uses the input message to retrieve data and generate an output message containing the data. The output message is generated in self-describing form utilizing Message class and Field class. ApiService class translates the output message to a presentation format identified by the request.
