Abstract: A UV reactor for disinfecting water. The UV reactor may include a cooling chamber in which heat from a UV source may be transferred to the water flowing through the UV reactor. The UV reactor may include driver circuitry operable to determine status information, such as health, of the UV source. The UV reactor may include a gas discharge path operable to substantially prevent accumulation of gas within a water treatment chamber.

Abstract: A protein hydrolysate composition is provided. The protein hydrolysate composition comprises isolated peptides useful for ameliorating a condition of a subject. Compositions comprising the protein hydrolysate composition are also provided. The compositions may be adapted for oral or topical administration to the subject, and may compose a foodstuff or beverage (e.g. a medical food), a topical composition (e.g. a lotion, cream, etc.), a kit, and the like. A methods of ameliorating the condition of the subject is further provided. The method include administering the protein hydrolysate composition to the subject. The method may be useful in reducing blood pressure, inflammation, reduced immunity, and/or oxidative stress in the subject.
Abstract: Compositions for oral administration and processes of preparing the same are described. In particular, compositions in the form of bilayer tablets including B vitamins for modified delivery are described. The bilayer multi-B vitamin tablets offer immediate release of a first set of B vitamins, such as riboflavin (B2) and cyanocobalamin (B12) followed by controlled release of a second set of B vitamins, such as folic acid, biotin, niacinamide (B3), pyridoxine (B6), pantothenic acid (B5) and thiamine (B1).

Abstract: An acoustic module with a transducer and a solid waveguide. The transducer and waveguide may be curved to focus the acoustic energy along a focal line. The transducer, the top surface of the waveguide and the bottom surface of the waveguide may extend along coaxial curves. The waveguide may include a recess closely receiving the transducer. The waveguide may include an integral skirt that provides a thermal mass. The acoustic module may include a space to accommodate thermal management options. For example, the acoustic module may include a heatsink, an active ventilation system and/or a phase change material. The ultrasound device may include a controller configured to perform a uniformity scan sweep during supply of operating power to the transducer. The uniformity scan sweep can extend through a frequency range that includes the operating point of the acoustic module and does not exceed an acceptable efficiency loss.

Abstract: A water treatment system is provided with an untreated water reservoir having a cavity through which a filter assembly may traverse such that untreated water in the cavity passes through the filter assembly into a treated water reservoir. Removal of the filter assembly may be facilitated by a seal disengagement element operable to unseat a seal formed during efforts to direct untreated water through the filter assembly.

Abstract: A product interaction monitor includes sensors for measuring characteristics related to the product and/or product package or other type of container. The product interaction monitor can be installed in a container cap and used to monitor events associated with the container such as product usage. The product interaction monitor can utilize multiple sensor outputs to increase the accuracy of the detection of the events. The product interaction monitor can be used to estimate product inventory or product usage and communicate information regarding the product and/or product usage to a local display or a remote computer.

Abstract: An integrated system for delivering weight loss guidance and activity tracking in a mobile format. The integrated system includes a weight loss program hosted on a mobile device. The weight loss program includes an energy intake prescription to guide a participant toward a target weight according to a weight loss prediction model that is visually depicted in a first application window. The mobile device can be paired with a weight sensor to provide weight updates at regular intervals. The mobile device can also be paired with a caloric expenditure measuring device, for example a step counter, to display activity levels for comparison with recommended activity goals in a second application window. The weight loss program extends over multiple phases that are structured to help individuals gradually achieve a sustainable weight loss while increasing daily activity levels over the duration of the program.
