Abstract: A binder assembly having a backing, which may be the spine or cover, with a prong-carrying plate or plates secured to the backing by means of the prongs. Upstanding rivets secure a support means to the plates. The support means may support a ring binder mechanism, a binder clamp mechanism or other binder mechanism. The support means is secured to the assembly by deforming the heads of the rivets. The rivets and plates may be secured together by assembly and swaging. Spacer elements may be positioned between the plate or plates and the arcuate casing of a ring binder mechanism.

Abstract: A loose-leaf binder having a casing and prong-carrying spring plates and having a mechanism for readily locking and unlocking the prongs through use of a trigger including pivot projections for pivoting on and in plate apertures. Locking is accomplished by lever lugs engaging casing blisters.

Abstract: A multi-element product and the method of making it which product is held together by a rivet. The product includes a hard layer adjacent a compressible soft layer to form a composite. A hole in the hard layer receives an anvil which is urged into the compressible layer. The rivet, which may be carried to its drivable position by a projection, is driven against the anvil to deform the rivet end.

The frame unit having end pieces shaped to rest on the supports and capable of being releasably clamped to the supports. The file frame may be curved for location on and supported by supports positioned at angles to one another.

Abstract: A key lockable arrangement for locking two members in abutting relationship comprising a cylinder button mounted in the first member for turning therein and having elements on a lower portion thereof which form an S-shape, to be received in a housing in the second member. The elements lock in the housing by freely entering same, flex upon rotation, and then remain unflexed in locking position.

Abstract: A connector device for an electrical surge protector includes a base having at least one yoke defining a mounting aperture, at least one terminal having a mounting hole aligned with the mounting aperture of the yoke, and a pin extending through the hole of the terminal and the yoke aperture to hold the terminal in a predetermined position in assembly of the surge protector.

Abstract: A punch pin cutting edge configuration having a leading edge and a following edge is described. The leading edge engages a workpiece, such as paper, before the following edge. The following edge is at a steeper angle than the leading edge relative to the workpiece being punched. The cutting edge thus produced reduces the force necessary to punch through the workpiece.

Abstract: An improved security system for preventing the theft of items, such as typewriters and personal computers. The system has a security plate which is fixed to the item that is to be secured. A bendable member is permanently attached to a center area of a plate base, and has a free end spaced from the center area of the base. A loop is advantageously formed on the free end for attaching the bendable member to a cable, chain or the like used to attach the plate to the anchor. When an attempt is made to forcibly remove the item, the bendable member bends to direct the removal force to the center of the plate where it can be distributed over the entire base and thereby more effectively resisted.

Abstract: A readily assembled covered container is disclosed. The container has a pivoting cover which snap-attaches to a tray. In the disclosed embodiment, bosses provided on the rear sidewalls of the tray are received in bores formed in the rear sidewalls of the cover to attach the cover to the tray. The bosses have a beveled surface that facilitates cover attachment, and each bore advantageously has a ramp-like channel associated with it that directs a respective boss to engagement within its bore. The tray nests within the inverted cover in a compact arrangement for improved packing, shipping and storing.

Abstract: An improved sheet lifter is disclosed. The sheet lifter includes a lower edge having inner and outer ends, an inner edge extending upwardly from the inner end of the lower edge in a direction substantially perpendicular thereto, and an outer edge extending upwardly and inwardly from the outer end of the lower edge at an angle of from 70 to 184 degrees.
