Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for system self-recovery. Specifically, a power meter employs a method in which a processor monitors the status of threads running in the power meter. The threads include at least one critical thread for measuring electricity usage at a metering point and at least one noncritical thread for other auxiliary functions. The Power meter can reboot if the status received from the threads indicates that a critical thread among the at least one critical thread works abnormally, and can restart the noncritical thread if the status received from the threads indicates that a noncritical thread among the at least one noncritical thread works abnormally.

Abstract: A method and apparatus generate an energy pulse output while improving the accuracy of energy pulse output. Specifically, an Intelligent Electronic Device employs a method in which a processor receives digital electrical parameter data to at least two buffers alternately; compute a power value in a full zero-crossing cycle in accordance with the digital electrical parameter data when one of the at least two buffers gets fully filled and storing the power value; divide a period that each buffer takes from empty to getting fully filled into a series of intervals; calculate energy consumption in each interval based on the power value stored; totalize the energy consumption; generate an energy pulse output according to a pre-determined threshold and the totalized energy consumption.
Abstract: An integrator for monitoring at least one parameter of an electrical signal in an electrical conductor in protective relay application. The integrator includes an integrator circuit having an input for receiving a signal from a current sensor coupled to the electrical conductor. A switch circuit has an input coupled to the output of the integrator circuit, wherein the switch circuit is controlled by the output of a temperature detection circuit. A power stage circuit has an input coupled to the output of the switch circuit, wherein the temperature detection circuit is coupled to a heating element of the power stage circuit through a temperature sensor, and the heating element is attached to a channel-shaped heatsink for heat dissipation.
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for generating an electrical parameter identifier in an Intelligent Electronic Device (IED). Specifically, the method includes obtaining attributes of the electrical parameter and generating an identifier for the electrical parameter according to the attributes.
