Abstract: A horizontally elongated rail is adapted to be mounted with respect to a door opening, and a door assembly is slideably mounted on the rail and is slideable along a generally vertical imaginary plane. The door assembly includes an upper section cooperating with the rail to provide for the slideable mounting of the door assembly on the rail, and a lower section pivotably attached to the upper section at an attached end thereof so as to be pivotable with respect to the upper section about a generally vertical axis from a closed position, in which the upper section and the lower section are generally co-planar, to an open position. A safety release has an engaged position, in which the lower section and the upper section are fixed in the closed position, and a disengaged position, in which the lower section is pivotable to the open position.

Abstract: A ligature resistant flexible swinging door assembly includes a frame mount, a flexible door panel, and a pivot assembly operably connecting the door panel to the frame mount such that the door panel is pivotable in two opposite directions from a closed position to first and second opened positions. The door panel is formed from a flexible polymeric material having a modulus of elasticity between 250 and 470 ksi (1.79 and 3.24 GPa), a flexural yield strength between 5220 and 15000 psi (36 and 103 MPa), a flexural modulus between 141 and 450 ksi (0.971 to 3.10 GPa) and a flexural strain at yield between 7.00% and 7.20%. The door panel has a width of between 26 and 42 inches (66.0-106.7 cm) and a thickness of between 0.040 and 0.315 inches (1.0-8.0 mm).

Abstract: A swinging door assembly includes a frame mount, a door panel, and a pivot assembly operably connecting the door panel to the frame mount such that the door panel is pivotable in two opposite directions from a closed position to first and second opened positions. When the door panel is pivoted in the first direction by an angle less than a threshold angle, or is pivoted in the second direction by an angle less than the threshold angle, the door panel is biased toward the closed position by virtue of a weight of the door panel, and when the door panel is pivoted in the first direction by an angle greater than or equal to the threshold angle, or is pivoted in the second direction by an angle greater than or equal to the threshold angle, the door panel is no longer biased toward the closed position.

At least one actuation sensor is provided on the privacy side of the door, causing the open command to be communicated to the actuator in response to an object being sensed within a threshold distance thereof, and at least one auxiliary sensor is provided on the privacy side of the door and providing at least one enhanced safety feature, the at least one auxiliary sensor being separate and distinct from the at least one actuation sensor.

Abstract: A lock assembly for a door includes a lock mechanism moveable between an extended position wherein the door is locked and a retracted position wherein the door is unlocked such that the door may be opened and closed. The lock assembly also includes first and second lock cylinders operably connected to the lock mechanism such that actuation thereof causes the lock mechanism to move to the retracted position, the lock cylinders each including a first keyhole. A tamper resistant member is moveable between a protected position in which the keyhole of the second cylinder is inaccessible and an unprotected position in which the keyhole of the second cylinder is accessible, such that a tool is required in order to move the tamper resistant member from the protected position to the unprotected position, the tool adapted to be stored separately from the door.

Abstract: A sliding door locking system includes a sliding door having an inner surface that slides over a doorway opening when the door is slidably mounted above the doorway opening, and an outer surface. A lock housing is mounted in the sliding door, the housing having an aperture extending through the inner surface of the sliding door. A latch is hingedly mounted in the aperture such that the latch is moveable from a retracted position, in which the door is slidable along the door opening, and an extended position, in which the latch engages a catch opposite the inner surface of the door and adjacent the doorway opening. At least one of the inner and outer surfaces of the sliding door includes an actuator that, when moved from a first position to a second position, moves the latch from the retracted position to the extended position.

Abstract: A sliding door system with a door includes a horizontally elongated member having a mounting portion with which it is mounted to a support structure, and a horizontally elongated track extending downwardly therefrom. The horizontally elongated track includes a horizontally elongated upper portion having a width, and a horizontally elongated protuberance below the upper portion having a width greater than the width of the upper portion. At least one sliding element is mounted to the top of the door and has a channel corresponding to the protuberance, and in which part of the elongated protuberance is disposed such that the sliding element is retained by and slidable on the protuberance. In some embodiments, a vertically extending rod is concealed between the front and back walls of the door and can be moved vertically in and out of an aperture in the protuberance to lock and unlock the door.

Abstract: A door handle has an elongated member pivotally connected with a plate member. The elongated member has a toe portion which interacts with the plate member. In this way, the elongated member is at least partially retained by the plate member at each end. The door handle provides an anti-ligature design that thwarts suicide attempts by persons attempting to affix or hang ligatures on the door handle. The door handle is also easily operable by those with disabilities.

Abstract: A lock assembly for automatically dead bolting a closure to a closure frame when the ambient temperature is raised above a predetermined temperature by fire comprises a striker plate, which defines a bolt hole, mounted on the closure frame. A cooperating latching mechanism, installed in the closure, includes a housing and a bolt assembly mounted in housing for reciprocal movement to and from a latched position projecting into the striker plate bolt hole and for movement to an extreme dead bolted position projecting further into the bolt hole beyond the latched position. A stop pin mechanism associated with the bolt assembly prevents the bolt assembly from being moved out of the dead bolted position once this position is assumed and a spring urges the bolt toward the dead bolted position.
