Patents Assigned to Acme Engineering & Manufacturing Corporation
  • Patent number: 5966953
Abstract: A multi-stage distribution and return control system for use in an evaporative cooling system including a drip conductor, a plurality of cooling cells along which water from the drip conductor passes and a gutter therebelow, including a tank, a conduit for conveying fresh water to the tank and a valve for regulating flow therethrough, a pump within the tank, a conduit for conveying water from the pump to the drip conductor, a conduit for conveying water from the gutter to the tank; high, mid and low-level switches and a float for movement between the switches, and a control system which when cooling is desired opens the valve for conveying fresh water to the tank until the float engages the mid-level switch and for starting the pump until the float engages the low-level switch, stopping the pump until water fills the tank again to the level defined by the mid-level switch and, moreover, when enough water is evaporated from the cooling cells, and the water level falls below the mid-level switch opening the val

  • Patent number: 4445426
Abstract: The present invention is for a housing structure for enclosing a fan assembly comprising a drive motor and propeller fan coupled thereto, the housing structure being mounted externally of a building at a downwardly slanted angle thereto so that as airflow is effected through the building when the fan is operating the air exits the building in a downward direction. The entrance to the housing is normally provided with a plurality of moveable blades in a louvered shutter assembly which when in open position have a downward angle thereto corresponding to the downwardly slanted center line axis of the housing enclosure. A fan inlet guard is normally provided with release clips to permit the quick and easy removal of the guard for servicing of the fan structure. The housing also is provided with sufficient area adjacent to the intake opening for permitting installation of electrical wiring to the internal components.

  • Patent number: 4389352
Abstract: A support assembly for a cooling pad evaporation system to be used in an opening within the wall of a building and having a water conductor provided with spaced openings in the top thereof, a cover for the water conductor which dissipates water completely over the top surface of the pad, a plurality of individually distinct cooling cells, and a gutter positioned below the pads. The cover is made up of two major structural pieces; one being the rear piece which is attached to the wall, and the other being a front piece with one end extending over and interlocking with a flange located on the top of the rear piece. Inside the cover is a top cover connector, which is an inverted "L"-shaped member providing a uniform surface for deflecting the upwardly directed water down onto the pads, water conductor support brackets and a water conductor.

  • Patent number: 4061131
Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat transfer system particularly applicable to solar heating installations and consisting of an evaporator located near the heat source which may be a solar heat collector panel and a condenser that is located at an elevation lower than that of the evaporator and which may function to heat hot water for storage. The source heat is transferred to a volatile fluid within the evaporator that absorbs the heat with an increase in temperaure and a change of state from liquid to vapor. The vapor is conveyed to the condenser wherein the fluid liberates its latent heat while changing from vapor to liquid phase. The condensed liquid drains from the condenser to a trap which may be used, if desired, to regulate the flow of liquid through a check valve and further piping to a transfer tank located above the evaporator. The fluid in the transfer tank is maintained at a lower temperature than that of the evaporator as a result of being insulated from the heat source.
