Abstract: A cutting implement is disclosed herein comprising a blade section and a handle section, wherein at least a portion of the handle section comprises a scented polymeric composition. Methods of making and using the cutting implement also are disclosed.
Abstract: A tool holder assembly for a watercraft and other applications employs a base assembly which is radially expandable to engage the inner surface of a cup holder or similar structure. The upper portion of the tool holder assembly includes a container and a multitude of thin rods which engage and press against tools inserted into the container. A containment net is placed over the projecting top portions of the tools and is secured by clips which engage retainers mounted at the top portion of the container. The tool holder assembly is installed by relative rotation between the upper portion and the base assembly.
Abstract: A new and improved cutting instrument is provided having an enhanced coating. The coating includes titanium, chromium, nitrogen and carbon elements and provides increased wear resistance. The coating can be applied to a variety of metal and non-metallic substrates, which include scissors and knife blades.
Abstract: A jaw spreader device is adapted to spread apart the jaws of a fish to facilitate removal of a hook or lure from the fish. The device has a spring biased tong-like configuration wherein in the normal configuration; the distal ends are spread apart. A lock mechanism locks the device in a compact locked position to facilitate insertion between the fish jaws into the mouth of the fish. The working ends of the each tong includes a flattened blade, an arcuate bend and a transverse spreader bar. Upon insertion of the device into the jaws/mouth of the fish release of the lock mechanism, the jaws are forced apart and biased to provide a stable enlarged opening. The spreading device may then be manually compressed to facilitate withdrawal from the fish.
Abstract: Coated cutting implements having increased longevity, corrosion and stain resistance, a smooth and uniform appearance and color, and/or reduced friction between cutting blades are provided. The coatings on the cutting implements have at least two layers. The first layer is a metal-based layer that imparts hardness or wear-resistance to the cutting implement. The second layer is comprised of an organic polymer.
Abstract: A knife with a guard assembly generally comprises a blade member, a handle assembly, and a blade guard assembly. The blade member includes a blade having a sharpened edge and an integral shank. The handle assembly is mounted to the shank. The blade guard assembly is mounted for pivotal movement about the blade member between a retracted position adjacent the handle to a protective position covering the sharpened edge. The blade guard is spring loaded by a spring about a pivot axis and a biased actuator secures the blade guard in the retracted position and the stable protective position. Upon depressing the actuator the blade guard assembly is pivoted to the protective position from the retracted position by a force of the spring.
