Abstract: The inventive terminal (200), that may be realised in various embodiments, e.g. as access control terminal, pay telephone, point of sales terminal, ticket vending machine or automatic teller machine, comprises a touch panel display (100) and means for contactless communication with an IC-card (10) that is used to perform transactions requested by the holder of the IC-card (10). In order to allow communication between the IC-card (10) and the terminal (200), at least one antenna (112), designed to receive signals from and/or to send signals to the IC-card (10), is embedded in the touch panel display (100) so that the card reading and writing functionality is implemented in the touch panel display (100).
